Has anyone ever taken 25 mg of amitriptyline and 20 mg of Celexa together? My primary care doc added Celexa 20 mg to my 25 mg dosage of amitriptyline to help with anxiety. Both she and pharmacist said it was ok. Pharmacist recommended taking one at night and one in the morning. I was under the impression that tricyclics and SSRI’s shouldn’t be taken together. I have been taking only the Celexa for several weeks and anxiety is worse than when I took only Amitriptyline. I feel iit’s the loss of the norepinephrine reuptake that the amitriptyline had. I think I should be on a SNRI.
Can both amitriptyline and Celexa be prescribed at the same time?

I took 60mg amitriptyline and 20mg Celexa for 2 years. I had no ill effects. 28m.
It's only recommended with doctors supervision.
Thank you. I have been on Celexa for 3 weeks and I still feel anxiety. I don’t want to go back on the Amitriptyline if I can help it. I will be getting an appointment at a behavioral health clinic. Last night I had chamomile tea before bed and slept well. Anxiety is mild. I need to be patient.
