When I first got my Mirena, my periods stopped all together except for two very heavy days a month. After 8 months, they started again but were very regular. I have now had it for 2 years and 3 months. I had my period last month but now I am 3 weeks late. I have taken two pregnancy tests, both negative, even though I've not been showing any pregnancy symptoms, which isn't at all different from my last 2 kids.
After two years, can Mirena suddenly stop a regular period?

I've had the Mirena in for about 2 years. I've had a normal cycle until this month. I just had my period on the 10th (light) and now I'm spotting and it's red. I'm nervous.
I had Mirena for 3 years. For the first 6-8 months I still had a fairly regular cycle but much lighter. After a year, I would get a day of spotting here and there but nothing regular. I did find that when my female cousin moved in, I started spotting on her cycle and then in between. No rhyme or reason to flow or frequency. My Dr told me all was normal with that. Good luck!
Hormonal birth control causes the uterus to produce less lining. Since this is what is shed when you have a period, if there isn't much there, there won't be a period. If you are concerned, of course call your doc, but its probably nothing.
You can loose your periods altogether. If you are really concerned you can go see your doctor. When I had my Mirena I lost my periods after 3 months.I was concerned at first but nothing came of it.If you don't want to go to your doctor just call them and tell them the situation.Thet will tell you what you need to do.
