Hello, first Ritalin immediate release (a popular generic name is Methylin) and Concerta, which is basically, a brand, long-acting formulation of methylphenidate which is the generic name of Ritalin. Unless, for some rare circumstance, you should not be taking these together because, except for the long-acting action of the Concerta, and serving a rare situation. Secondly, there is not a formal contradiction to administering methylphenidate to an individual with hypertension, close monitoring of the blood pressure is essential. A person, with essential hypertension, is not uncommon for this person to receive an antihypertive, a good, common one of these is Lisinopril and can be given with Ritalin; again, however, pressure must, must be closely monitored and some providers do an EKG to ensure the function of the Cardiac muscle, is working as it should. Hope this helps, Cindy
I was given 30 mg of adderal to control my ADHD and also clonidine to "turn it off" as my doctor would put it but I realized it meant that it would lower my blood pressure at the end of the day so I could go to sleep. My blood pressure never did return to normal. If I continued to have headache I used to also have to take Nifediprine.
