Mine have a line in the middle. I break them in half when I don't need the full dose. Seems to work fine. My doctor said that they could be halved in case I need another half for breakthrough pain. I hope this helps.
love58; it can depend on the type or brand as long as it is not a capsule, Or on the bottle say sr, tr. etc those you can't break but the regular on is fine and normally they will have a line with an indent that is made for breaking the pill. BUT AGAIN if it is any type of extended release don't break it. chuck1957
