Has anyone here found just 5 mgs of Lexapro to be an effective dose? If yes, how long did it take to work for you and what condition did you start taking it for? Thanks--

I weaned down from 30mg to 5mg lexapro over an 11 year period. I did a lot of self help work which enable me to do well on a lower dose. 5mg helped as a safety net along with meditation and thought therapy.
Thanks for the reply @ Catholicmom. Very helpful! Are you still on just 5 mg daily now and how many years in total have you been on the drug Lexapro, and what was the medical reason you started taking it for? I suffer with severe anxiety, panic disorder, and something called cardiophobia.
I weaned from 5mg down to 2mg over a two year period then I came off completely. I managed without medication for three years but then a series of life events brought about a return of severe anxiety and I am now back on medication ( sertraline) I am the first to admit that I didn’t take my own advice and neglected my own self care thinking I was healed! Anxiety has been my lifelong companion unfortunately and requires lifelong management ( meditation, good sleep, diet, thought training etc) when left unattended for too long it reaches the stage where only medication will help me.
I was 42 when I first started lexapro, I suffered severe PND after the traumatic birth of my last child. I’m often amazed that I managed without medication for 42 years! Medication definitely gives me a good safety net to work with. I am much more able to do the necessary self help when stable.
Good luck!
