Michele; Not sure what you are taking this for, But here are the recommended doses and remember always tell any doctor that is giving you anything that you are taking this there are many Interactions so must be safe. Here is the dosing from Drugs.com ( sleep disorders: Melatonin 2 to 5 mg has been used. Thermal injury: Up to 20 mg orally/IV for 28 to 30 days then 10 mg orally daily for 1 year.)
Anyway, it sounds like the maximum dose that should be taken is 20mg per day for 28 to 30 days so your right there just is careful. this can cause side effects also.
I just want to sleep but still awake took it over an hour ago.I told my doctor, few weeks ago was taking 10 mg he didnt say anything. What are the side effects?
Michele try and give the 10mg dose some time as your body adjust if it is going to work for sleep most people even on the 3mg to 5mg get relief in 3 to 10 days. Just my input. here is the side effect that is the most common. Just let you know. I really hope you get to wear you need to be soon. chuck1957 keep in touch.(Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome:
Change in sleep pattern; headache.
Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur while taking melatonin:
Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); confusion; depression; fast heartbeat; hypothermia (fast breathing, shivering).
Not all side effects for melatonin may be reported. You should always consult a doctor or healthcare professional for medical advice. Side effects can be reported to the FDA here.)
Michele remembers part of the nonsleeping could be the Celexa until you get past the 2 weeks one thing I have learned is if I can't sleep I at least laydown and try not to focus on anything you need your body to rest if nothing else. and just know that all of this is temporary. good luck.
