Please do not feel stupid! In the four years since I was diagnosed (Fast BG 430!) and prescribed 1000mg 2/day I have "lost track" of my med schedule at least 10 times. Since the purpose of the med is to control BG, usually by lowering it, I would promptly shift my food intake for the next 12 hours to almost pure protein. That brought approval and a laugh from my doctor when I confessed. Not that difficult, I have a 12am and 12pm med schedule, so it is easy to skip the carbs and snack on leftover meat, some cheese maybe, a handful of almonds, some sugar-free yogurt. Metformin is not a "Magic Bullet," it is a TOOL that works well with a self-enforced low-carbohydrate diet. Keep the faith, do the best you can, and please! try to avoid carb-filled "anti-food" snacks when you are stressed! Just FYI, my A1C has been rock-steady at 5.2 since I started Metformin.
