Application site reactions (local pain, erythema, vesicles, skin erosion/ulceration), phimosis, inguinal lymphadenitis, urethral meatal stenosis, dysuria, genital herpes simplex, vulvitis, hypersensitivity, pruritus, pyodermitis, skin ulcer, erosions in the urethral meatus, and superinfection of warts and ulcers have been reported as leading to dose interruption, dose reduction, or discontinuation of sinecatechins topical.


Local side effects reported as serious have included pain and inflammation. Adenopathy, erythema, pruritus, burning, pain, discomfort, erosion, ulceration, edema, induration, vesicular rash, regional lymphadenitis, desquamation, discharge, bleeding, reaction, scar, irritation, and rash have been reported in greater than 1% of patients. Phimosis has been reported in male patients. Urethritis, perianal infection, changes in pigmentation, dryness, eczema, hyperesthesia, necrosis, papules, and discoloration have also been reported. Cervical dysplasia, pelvic pain, cutaneous facial rash, and staphylococcemia have been reported rarely.


Hypersensitivity side effects have included type IV hypersensitivity during a dermal sensitization trial in healthy volunteers under occlusive conditions.
