Lexapro (escitalopram) for Anxiety: My experience with Lexapro has been a positive one. I've been on it after my social anxiety became intolerable and I'd hit the lowest low of my life -- had a few anxiety attacks and was doing horrible at work. I wasn't able to keep anything straight, was disorganized, forgetful, anxious, irresponsible, irritable. I felt high anxiety in making simple decisions, writing, communicating, asserting myself, the list goes on. I started Lexapro and it took a solid 2 months for it to really start working effectively. At that point, I became much more calm (much less anxiety), organized, together-with, and punctual (qualities I had never achieved before in my life!). I've started to eat healthier, work out, work harder, and have joined some social clubs. Success!

Lexapro (escitalopram) for Generalized Anxiety Disorder: I am a 20 year old male and have been on 10mg of Lexapro for about 2 months. I was experiencing panic attacks (minor and major) at least once every day at it's worst and would have one driving or at the movies assuredly every time I went or drove. I never have taken medication regularly in my life and am otherwise a healthy person. After experiencing a traumatic event last year, I began having panic attacks. In the last month I believe I have had two panic attacks. This medicine has helped me substantially. The first week is tough, I experienced a little nausea, headaches, and neck/back muscle tightening, but that went away fairly quickly. Just stick with it!

Lexapro (escitalopram) for Bipolar Disorder: This is the only medication that has really helped me. I am able to concentrate much better. I have no problems with losing my temper. I have no panic attacks any more. My moods alternate within a smaller interval without intense manias or deep depression. This has been true now for 5 years.

Lexapro (escitalopram) for Anxiety: I was less upset on this medicine but much much more anxious. Tried 5mg-20mgs and different doses didn't change the anxiety levels.

Lexapro (escitalopram) for Anxiety: Lexapro has changed my life. I am now able to participate in so many activities that my anxiety wouldn't allow me to do prior. There is side effects. I don't sleep great and have crazy dreams. Dry mouth, skin and eyes is noticeably worse. Sexual feelings came back after a few months. Plus have more gas and stomach upset. But even with the side effects, my life has greatly improved.

Lexapro (escitalopram) for Depression: Another side effect I've had is I am unable to have an orgasm (I am a woman). I will still have sex and enjoy it, but I don't even feel remotely close to coming. That in my opinion is a small price to pay for the benefits of this medicine.

Lexapro (escitalopram) for Anxiety: I started 5 mg two days ago and I feel better already. No more sweaty palms or burning forehead due to high anxiety! I take it in the morning so I am able to sleep at night. I tried Zoloft and Celexa and could not take either one for more than two days! Horrific side effects for me! I pray each day gets better and better! This is my first time taking an antidepressant. I highly recommend for people with anxiety! Good luck

Lexapro (escitalopram) for Generalized Anxiety Disorder: Mid life generalized anxiety disorder. Prescribed Lexapro 5 weeks ago and it's finally working.
I feel normal for the 1st time in years. 4 weeks of anxiety and flat emotions. But the flat feeling is normal, not the excessive swings in feelings and mood that often cause great anxiety. Things don't bother me so much now, and the racing thoughts don't cause much problem. Just stop them or write them down and don't feel overwhelmed by things to do.
Lexapro is a real life saver, just wish I'd been able to try it several years ago, the BiPolar misdiagnosis really caused problems.
Anyone thinking about giving up this medicine during the 1st few weeks, stick it out, I did and it's a miracle!

Lexapro (escitalopram) for Anxiety: Having started a business in a high stress field, I experienced episodes of stress and anxiety that interfered with my sleep, ability to concentrate and that began to manifest physically with chest pains, headaches, etc.
The first 10 days were a nightmare. I had a terrible spike in my anxiety and stress levels. I considered bailing on the medication and even my business, but my wife pressed me to continue. After 10 days I started to see an improvement. The anxiety improved and so did my mood. By day 14 or so I was transformed. I completely stopped having anxious thoughts. My entire demeanor changed. I am now like Teflon- stress does not stick around for more than a few minutes. This medicine was a lifesaver and my business is great.

Lexapro (escitalopram) for Generalized Anxiety Disorder: Started Lexapro 5 weeks ago for General Anxiety Disorder.
After going through the anxieties for 3 weeks, and then feeling emotionally flat for about a week plus, things just started getting better. The worrying thing about and obsessing over the medications "mental" side effects eased off.
It's easier now to take things as they come, talk and interact with others, and I feel at peace with myself for the first time in years!
Anyone considering stopping this medicine during the 1st few weeks, give it time, it actually does get better. I nearly stopped but kept with it, and now I'm actually happy again! Everyone is saying it's nice to see me smile again.

Lexapro (escitalopram) for Depression: I love this medication! I was on Zoloft and was a zombie! I couldn't sleep, and with a newborn sleep was critical to me! I also gained a lot of weight! I have no issues sleeping now and generally have a more positive mood and am losing weight. You can tell when I don't take this! It's a dream!

Lexapro (escitalopram) for Generalized Anxiety Disorder: I felt on a deep depression/anxiety my "great Doctor" put me on Lexapro 20mg. Two months later I was back at work and felt like a totally new me! I stopped the medication after six months and until now I feel great. I have no need to go back on the medicine. However, if the need arrives I will definitely will consider Lexapro.....a life saver medicine with no side effects at all to my body.

Lexapro (escitalopram) for Anxiety: To make a long story very short, I've been struggling with perfectionism, chronic stress, anxiety, compulsive thinking, depression (Especially with nightfall) and a fear of sleeping. There has been a wide variety of physical manifestations such as Irritable bowel, fatigue etc..... So over all it's been a real nightmare.
The 10mg dose of Lexapro was to high for me and I had a bad reaction my first time. I'm now on 5mg and so far it's relieved just about all my problems but my memory is clouded, takes more time to orgasm and I space out a lot. To have the most success with feeling better you need to also make an effort to change your life. Just keep that in mind.

Lexapro (escitalopram) for Depression: I had clinical depression and anxiety before, 1996-2001. I had taken Paxil, Remeron, Effexor and about 3 others I can't remember. None of them worked for me. And the doc always said give it 6 weeks to take effect. That was all hell for me. Then I felt the symptoms that I recognized from before coming on again about 2 weeks ago. I jumped early this time. My doc asked me what medication worked for me before. I told her Effexor, somewhat. She prescribed that for me. Two days of a deeper depression and higher anxiety on it. I called her today after reading online about how good Lexapro was. She prescribed it for me 5mg dose. I took it about four hours ago. I feel great now! I kid not.

Lexapro (escitalopram) for Depression: I am a 43 year old, otherwise healthy male, with reactive depression due to extreme financial stress over the last 2 years. Couldn't stop obsessive, negative thoughts, to the point I was nearly at breaking point. Was placed on 10mg Lexapro for one week, and then increased to 20mg. Initial side effects were sweating, and insomnia. The sweating passes quickly, and the insomnia has now all but disappeared. The first week, my anxiety and depression may actually have increased, but after that, had steady improvement, until after 6 weeks, felt completely back to my old self. The only ongoing side effect is difficulty achieving orgasm, but I am completely prepared to live with that, considering how I was feeling beforehand. Has been a lifesaver.
