Vizz
Generic name: aceclidine
Dosage form: eye drop (ophthalmic solution)
What is Vizz?
Vizz (aceclidine) is a once-daily eye drop used to improve blurry close-up vision associated with aging (presbyopia). Vizz works by contracting the iris muscle, which makes the pupil smaller and increases the depth of focus.
Vizz's mechanism of action is as a cholinergic muscarinic receptor agonist that stimulates the muscarinic receptors on the iris muscle, which causes the pupil to constrict.
Vizz eye drops are applied once a day, with results expected within 30 minutes and may last up to 10 hours. It will be available in single-use vials.
Vizz FDA approval was granted on July 31, 2025, after positive results from the clinical trials CLARITY 1 (NCT05656027), CLARITY 2 (NCT05728944), and CLARITY 3 (NCT05753189).
Vizz side effects
The most common Vizz side effects are eye irritation (20%), dim vision (16%), and headache (13%). These side effects are usually mild, short-term, and resolve on their own.
This is not a complete list of side effects, and others may occur. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to the FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.

Patients should be advised to seek immediate medical care with the sudden onset of vision loss, flashing lights, or floaters.
Iritis: Vizz eye drops should be used with caution in patients with a history of iritis, which is inflammation of the iris, the colored circle of the eye.
