Interactions between your drugs
chlorpheniramine methscopolamine
Applies to: DriHist SR (chlorpheniramine / methscopolamine / phenylephrine), DriHist SR (chlorpheniramine / methscopolamine / phenylephrine)
Using chlorpheniramine together with methscopolamine may increase side effects such as drowsiness, blurred vision, dry mouth, heat intolerance, flushing, decreased sweating, difficulty urinating, abdominal cramping, constipation, irregular heartbeat, confusion, and memory problems. Side effects may be more likely to occur in the elderly or those with a debilitating condition. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with these medications. Also avoid activities requiring mental alertness such as driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medications affect you. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
glyBURIDE phenylephrine
Applies to: Micronase (glyburide), DriHist SR (chlorpheniramine / methscopolamine / phenylephrine)
Phenylephrine may interfere with blood glucose control and reduce the effectiveness of glyBURIDE and other diabetic medications. Monitor your blood sugar levels closely. You may need a dose adjustment of your diabetic medications during and after treatment with phenylephrine. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
phenylephrine methscopolamine
Applies to: DriHist SR (chlorpheniramine / methscopolamine / phenylephrine), DriHist SR (chlorpheniramine / methscopolamine / phenylephrine)
Methscopolamine may increase the effects of phenylephrine on your blood pressure and heart rate. Before receiving these medications, you should let your doctor know if you have high blood pressure or heart disease. You may not be able to use one or both of these medications, or you may need closer monitoring by your doctor in order to use these medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
chlorpheniramine food
Applies to: DriHist SR (chlorpheniramine / methscopolamine / phenylephrine)
Alcohol can increase the nervous system side effects of chlorpheniramine such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience impairment in thinking and judgment. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with chlorpheniramine. Do not use more than the recommended dose of chlorpheniramine, and avoid activities requiring mental alertness such as driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medication affects you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns.
glyBURIDE food
Applies to: Micronase (glyburide)
Alcohol may affect blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes. Both hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and hyperglycemia (high blood sugar) may occur, depending on how much and how often you drink. You should avoid using alcohol if your diabetes is not well controlled or if you have high triglycerides, neuropathy (nerve damage), or pancreatitis. Moderate alcohol consumption generally does not affect blood glucose levels if your diabetes is under control. However, it may be best to limit alcohol intake to one drink daily for women and two drinks daily for men (1 drink = 5 oz wine, 12 oz beer, or 1.5 oz distilled spirits) in conjunction with your normal meal plan. Avoid drinking alcohol on an empty stomach or following exercise, as it may increase the risk of hypoglycemia. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
methscopolamine food
Applies to: DriHist SR (chlorpheniramine / methscopolamine / phenylephrine)
Ask your doctor before using methscopolamine together with ethanol. Use alcohol cautiously. Alcohol may increase drowsiness and dizziness while you are taking methscopolamine. You should be warned not to exceed recommended dosages and to avoid activities requiring mental alertness. If your doctor prescribes these medications together, you may need a dose adjustment to safely take this combination. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
phenylephrine food
Applies to: DriHist SR (chlorpheniramine / methscopolamine / phenylephrine)
Both phenylephrine and caffeine can increase blood pressure and heart rate, and combining them may enhance these effects. Talk to your doctor before using these medications, especially if you have a history of high blood pressure or heart disease. You may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications. Contact your doctor if your condition changes or you experience increased side effects. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
