Interactions between your drugs
sodium bicarbonate mycophenolic acid
Applies to: sodium bicarbonate, Myfortic (mycophenolic acid)
Using sodium bicarbonate together with mycophenolic acid may decrease the effects of mycophenolic acid. You should separate the administration times of the medications by at least two hours. If your doctor does prescribe these medications together, you may need a dose adjustment or special test to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
mycophenolic acid food
Applies to: Myfortic (mycophenolic acid)
Take mycophenolic acid on an empty stomach 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal unless otherwise directed by your doctor. Food may reduce the absorption of mycophenolic acid. This will make it easier for your body to absorb the medication. Do not crush, chew, or cut the tablets. The tablets have a special coating to protect the stomach from irritation.
