2 potential interactions and/or warnings found for the following 2 drugs:
- metrizamide
- Risperdal Consta (risperidone)
Interactions between your drugs
metrizamide risperiDONE
Applies to: metrizamide, Risperdal Consta (risperidone)
Before you undergo any imaging procedure where metrizamide may be injected directly into the spine, let your doctor know if you are currently being treated with risperiDONE. Injection of metrizamide into the spine can sometimes cause seizures, and the risk may be increased if you are also using other medications that can cause seizures such as risperiDONE. You may be more susceptible if you are elderly, undergoing alcohol or drug withdrawal, have a history of seizures, or have a condition affecting the central nervous system such as a brain tumor or head trauma. Your doctor may want to withhold risperiDONE for a certain length of time before and after the procedure, or you may need to be monitored more closely during the procedure. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
risperiDONE food
Applies to: Risperdal Consta (risperidone)
RisperiDONE oral solution should not be mixed with tea or cola. It may be taken with water, coffee, orange juice, or low-fat milk. You should avoid the use of alcohol while being treated with risperiDONE. Alcohol can increase the nervous system side effects of risperiDONE such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience impairment in thinking and judgment. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns.
