Drug Interaction Report

Before you undergo any imaging procedure where ioxilan may be given by injection, let your doctor know if you are currently being treated with hydroCHLOROthiazide. Injection of ioxilan can sometimes cause kidney problems, and the risk may be increased if you are also using hydroCHLOROthiazide. The interaction may be more likely if you have preexisting kidney disease, congestive heart failure, or diabetes; or if you are elderly, dehydrated, or taking other medications that can affect the kidney. Depending on your health situation, your doctor may want you to stop using hydroCHLOROthiazide for a certain length of time before and after the procedure. You may also be asked to increase your fluid intake the day before the procedure, or you may be given intravenous fluids before, during, and after the procedure. Since ioxilan contains iodine, also let your doctor know if you have had a previous reaction to iodine or iodine-containing products. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

If you are taking olmesartan you should avoid potassium-containing salt substitutes or over-the-counter potassium supplements without first talking to your doctor. This can cause high levels of potassium in your blood. High levels of potassium can cause weakness, irregular heartbeat, confusion, tingling of the extremities, or feelings of heaviness in the legs. Call your doctor at once if you have any of these symptoms.

Using amLODIPine together with multivitamin with minerals can decrease the effects of amLODIPine. Talk with your doctor before using amLODIPine and multivitamin with minerals together. You may need a dose adjustment or need your blood pressure checked more often if you take both medications.
