MONITOR: The concomitant use of heparin with alprostadil may result in additive anticoagulant effects and increase the risk of bleeding. Alprostadil's pharmacologic effects include inhibition of platelet aggregation.
MANAGEMENT: The manufacturers recommend caution when alprostadil is administered to neonates with bleeding tendencies.
