Usual Adult Dose for Enterobiasis

11 mg/kg base orally once as a single dose
Maximum dose: 1 g/dose

Some Experts Recommend: 11 mg/kg base orally once as a single dose

Comments:

  • Recommended as a regimen for E vermicularis (pinworm) infection

Administration advice:

  • Can administer at any time of day, with or without meals; may administer alone or with milk or juice
  • Can mix the oral suspension with milk or fruit juice
  • Shake oral suspension well before use.

Storage requirements:
  • Store at 20C to 25C (68F to 77F); excursions permitted to 15C to 30C (59F to 86F).
  • Do not freeze.

General:
  • Pyrantel pamoate 144 mg is equivalent to 50 mg pyrantel base.
  • Use of a laxative is not necessary before, during, or after administration of this drug.

Patient advice:
  • Read the package insert/product information carefully before use.
  • Administer only according to directions; do not exceed recommended dose unless directed by physician.
