Valrubicin Disease Interactions

There are 2 disease interactions with valrubicin:

Valrubicin (Includes valrubicin) ↔ perforated bladder

Severe Potential Hazard, Moderate plausibility. Applies to: Rupture of Bladder

Valrubicin is contraindicated in patients with perforated bladder or compromised bladder mucosa, including small bladder capacity that is unable to tolerate a 75 mL instillation. Evaluate the bladder before the intravesical instillation for severe irritable bladder symptoms, and in case of bladder perforation, delay the administration until bladder integrity has been restored. If this agent is administered to patients with bladder rupture or if perforation is suspected, significant systemic exposure may occur following intravesical administration and myelosuppression is possible. Weekly monitoring of complete blood counts should be performed for 3 weeks.

Valrubicin (Includes valrubicin) ↔ urinary infection

Severe Potential Hazard, Moderate plausibility. Applies to: Urinary Tract Infection

Valrubicin is contraindicated in patients with current urinary tract infection.

Valrubicin drug interactions

There are 6 drug interactions with valrubicin

Drug Interaction Classification

The classifications below are a general guideline only. It is difficult to determine the relevance of a particular drug interaction to any individual given the large number of variables.
Major Highly clinically significant. Avoid combinations; the risk of the interaction outweighs the benefit.
Moderate Moderately clinically significant. Usually avoid combinations; use it only under special circumstances.
Minor Minimally clinically significant. Minimize risk; assess risk and consider an alternative drug, take steps to circumvent the interaction risk and/or institute a monitoring plan.
Unknown No information available.
