Rescriptor Disease Interactions
There are 2 disease interactions with Rescriptor (delavirdine).
Delavirdine (applies to Rescriptor) achlorhydria
Moderate Potential Hazard, High plausibility.
Patients with achlorhydria should take delavirdine with an acidic beverage such as orange or cranberry juice, presumably to improve absorption. Although the effects of acidic beverages on delavirdine absorption have not been studied, delavirdine is known to be poorly soluble when pH is greater than 3.
Delavirdine (applies to Rescriptor) liver disease
Moderate Potential Hazard, High plausibility.
Delavirdine is primarily metabolized by the liver. Patients with liver disease may be at greater risk for toxicities and adverse effects from delavirdine due to decreased drug clearance. Therapy with delavirdine should be administered cautiously in patients with liver disease.
