Oseltamivir for Influenza "I had to take it twice a day, and it tasted horrible! When it was time to take it again, I dreaded it and sat there for a while. It doesn’t matter how many drinks of water you take, Tamiflu stays in your mouth longer than what you would like it to. It makes your food taste terrible, causes hallucinations, vomiting, and nausea. It does help with the flu, but it is very unpleasant."

For Influenza "Took the first dose, and I was fine for a while, but then a few hours later, I had really, really bad nausea. I also had a burning in my upper stomach. Tried to calm the nausea by drinking ginger ale and eating, could not eat without it getting worse. Tried to eat an apple, and that was the straw on the camel's back... I ended up in the bathroom dry heaving. I do not even desire to take another dose due to my first reaction. I know it's supposed to help, however, it made me feel worse than I already am. I don't want to end up dry heaving or vomiting every time I take it. That, to me, is worse than fever, coughing, sneezing, and body aches."

Oseltamivir for Influenza "For me, Tamiflu worked amazingly well. I started it within 24 hours of symptoms, and I felt better the next day. The day after that, I just had minor symptoms and felt almost back to normal - fastest recovery ever and no side effects. Also, all three of my children had confirmed cases of flu. My oldest (age 9) didn't start Tamiflu until after 48 hours, and it didn't do much for her - she was sick for 6 days. My middle (age 7) had vomiting issues, but taking Zofran the first day or two and food with it helped. He was fever-free after 36 hours. My youngest (age 4) did great on Tamiflu and was also fever-free after 36 hours. The only problem I had with the kids was they hated the taste of the liquid Tamiflu - bribing with Popsicles worked."

Oseltamivir for Influenza "On Monday night, I started experiencing a runny nose and feeling kind of dizzy, so I decided to go to bed. I woke up the next morning feeling terrible. I was aching the entire day all over my body. I had the chills, sore throat, headache, and a fever of 100.2. I felt like crap, so I decided to go to the doctor, and they tested me for the flu, and it came back positive. I had influenza, so my doctor put me on Tamiflu. The first night was the worst. I did eat something hoping the medication would give me no side effects, but I was vomiting and my body was aching so badly. It took me forever to fall asleep, but when I woke up the next morning, I had no aches and no chills. Each day was better being on Tamiflu."

For Influenza "My husband came home from a conference with a cold, so I was hoping not to get it. Went out of state for Spring Break, when on the first day had fever and chills. I knew it wasn't a cold, so immediately went to local urgent care. Was diagnosed with the flu (no swab) and given Tamiflu and a Vitamin B12 shot. Took the first dose and threw up within 2 hours, woke up with a headache, but otherwise, didn't feel horrible. Progressively got better and was actually able to enjoy my trip. I'm better than my husband, who's the one that gave it to me! It's a lifesaver!"

Oseltamivir for Influenza "I never have gotten the flu but was diagnosed a couple days ago along with my 1-year-old son. Within 30 minutes, he puked 4 times on the liquid. I tried it, and I will say it did help me actually get some sleep and helped me take my migraine away. I've been taking two Tylenol Extra Strengths on top of this. Only symptoms are diarrhea and possibly vomiting (I feel nauseous)."

Oseltamivir for Influenza "I went to a local clinic yesterday and was swabbed for the flu, which came back negative. They said it was likely a false negative because I got in so early on. I went in with a 101 fever, aches all over, runny nose, and headache. They prescribed Tamiflu, which I started after eating a meal to protect my stomach. Two hours after taking it, I began to throw up every ten minutes for about four hours. It was a complete nightmare. I did not take any more and figured I'd rather endure the flu symptoms than have any more vomiting. I am still sick and will just treat the flu the old-fashioned way: sleep, liquids, repeat."

Oseltamivir for Influenza "Just got prescribed Tamiflu yesterday (2 pills per day) after dealing with coughing, headaches, fever, and congestion for 3 days. I took it that evening and I didn't feel any side effects, but I also didn't notice any changes in flu symptoms. The next day I took it in the morning after eating, and about an hour later I got super nauseous out of nowhere and ended up vomiting. I had no idea about the side effects until now... Honestly, I'd rather deal with my stuffy nose and cough than worry about whether I'm going to start puking again or not. Now I just feel worse than before... I don't think I'm going to continue taking it."

Oseltamivir for Influenza "Never had the flu or flu shot in my 53 years on this planet. I guess there is a first time for everything. Diagnosed with influenza A within 48 hours of feeling sicker than I ever remember, severe fatigue, insane headache, chills, backache, scratchy throat, and difficult getting a good breath in. The nurse prescribed Tamiflu and Zofran (for nausea). Took the first dose of both drugs that night, I awoke feeling somewhat better, and after the second dose, I knew this stuff was working. Still super fatigued and no appetite, but I have had zero nausea or vomiting. I think the addition of Zofran is key. Tamiflu definitely lessens the symptoms and stops the virus from spreading through your entire body if given within 48 hours."

Oseltamivir for Influenza "I took it outside the recommended treatment window, because my doctor recommended it. I didn’t know about possible side effects. I started vomiting after the second dose and awful nausea, as well as diarrhea. I think it is not worth it. Maybe much more helpful if within 48-hour window. I think I may stop taking it."

For Influenza "This thing is horrible. My flu symptoms were manageable (I'm a 38-year-old) — sure, I had a 104.2 °F fever, but things seemed to be getting better with just paracetamol and Advil. No headaches, and I wasn’t feeling tired or lethargic. Until I took my first dose of “Tamiflu”!!!!! Then I had vomiting. The first one wasn’t too bad, but then the next bouts just got more intense and violent! I took this with a small meal, as prescribed. Currently on an old remedy that my dad put us through at times like this (he was an MD): sips of Sprite and plain potato crisps. I added activated charcoal tablets, as all this violent puking is just too much! I’ve never had it so bad! Usually, I’d puke once or twice and done! Then I felt better! But Tamiflu will take you out like no simple bug will!"

Oseltamivir for Influenza "I became very ill with severe vomiting, diarrhea, headache, fever, chills, aches, exhaustion... and I had a 5-month-old baby to take care of. All this despite the flu shot. Twelve hours after the initial onset, my doctor diagnosed me with the flu and prescribed Tamiflu. It slowly got better, and two days later I am somewhat functional... which is good, because now I have to take care of my baby and my sick husband. We'll be getting him Tamiflu, too!"

For Influenza "Having no bad side effects from generic Tamiflu. It only cost me $5 via my insurance for generic drugs. I was very worried about nausea and vomiting, but have not experienced that after taking 4 caps so far. I also no longer have flu symptoms, but I am continuing the entire pack to reap the preventative effects of this drug against another strain I did not catch yet. The side effects people describe seem to be exactly what I was experiencing from the flu itself: headaches and fluctuating periods of extreme fatigue, so I am hesitant to believe those are caused by the medication. I did get the flu shot in October, and this is February, and I am one of those who just experienced mild flu symptoms from being vaccinated. I chose this medication to provide added protection and prevention."

Oseltamivir for Influenza "A few years ago, I got sick with the flu, and my husband right after. Tamiflu got us really sick. We couldn't stop vomiting. This year, our 1-year-old baby got the flu, along with our 6-year-old. We only gave it to the baby because the illness was too developed for the 6-year-old. What the hell were we thinking?! It got him very sick. He gagged while taking it, almost threw up every time, had very loose poop, and developed a rash. I think that it is poison! They should find a different way of making money and stop poisoning people. Never again. I would rather be sick an extra day than take this stuff again."

For Influenza "I started using this medicine yesterday, and I feel I must share my HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE so some other innocent patients know what can happen. This OVERPRICED medicine makes you more sick - I got nausea, loss of appetite, vomiting twice in a day, dehydration, dizziness. Instead of getting a cure, I'm getting worse and finally discontinuing it, realizing not only my money got WASTED but also my health got worse."

Oseltamivir for Influenza "Tamiflu does absolutely nothing to shorten the duration of the flu, maybe like 12 hours at the most. I lost 10 pounds from it because of vomiting every hour from it. I was so weak I couldn't even make it to the bathroom sometimes, so I had to puke in a bag beside my bed. DO NOT TAKE TAMIFLU. Anyone who recovers from the flu quickly after taking it just simply had a weaker strain of the flu or their body is stronger at fighting it."
