For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "I was told to take PreserVision AREDS 2 after an eye exam where the Dr. thought he saw early possible macula degeneration in one eye. I took them every day and was noticing that my sight seems to be deteriorating and I had more floaters. My eyes seemed tired more after playing piano or reading. Then I ran out and spent a few days without them. My vision improved greatly! Less floaters and more able to focus on different tasks. I just played piano without my glasses! Go figure. Gotta talk at my appointment in June but I don't think my body Likes them."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "Trying to use this product, bad nausea, unable to take 2 per day as recommended. Tried Vitalux - body cant handle them, stomach problems continually with both medications. Don't see any difference to eye sight. Have Drusen which told could be sign of age related macular degeneration but some articles read say you can have them with no degeneration, thinking of stopping this medication at least going to talk with doctor when see him in June."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "My retina specialist gave me a one-day sample of PreserVision AREDS 2 to start taking for macular degeneration in my right eye. After breakfast this morning, I took my first one and almost immediately felt sick with nausea, fatigue, near vomiting and a slight temperature. I'm glad I checked here for reviews... no more for me!!!"

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "This morning when I woke up, I thought “Why am I waking up daily feeling tired and unrested and why am I experiencing nightly, negative and complex dreams?” Tried to determine what’s new in my life — no new meds, no dietary change, no new vitamins — wait — I started taking this Bausch + Lomb pill due to cataract growth in both eyes. Recommended by a friend. Decided to research side effects, which led me to this website / postings. I swear God is doing the leading! After reading a few, I realized that I had experienced several of the same symptoms. Nausea? Check! Stomach cramps? Check! Diarrhea? Check! Blurry vision ? Check! The first symptom was definitely nausea and there was no logical explanation for it. Prior to finding this website, I didn’t take the morning dose today and decided to stop them entirely for a couple weeks. After reading every single post, I’m not swallowing another. They’re going back to Costco!"

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "Have been taking AREDS2 for over three years. One pill twice a day WITH A MEAL. My left eye is wet AMD and dr told me and what I read was that AREDS2 will not help wet AMD. My right eye is dry and has remained dry with these pills. Never had any bad side effects but I follow the directions too. Very pleased."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "My mother has taken Areds for years. They recently changed to a brighter red gel pill. Since then, she has been in and out of hospitals for gas, abdominal pain and inability to eat due to heartburn and a “full feeling”. She was labeled as “ Failure to thrive “. We stopped the AREdS and she was better within a week."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "The AREDs 2 I have been taking for over a month now. I do not have any eye problems except for a slight cataract on one eye. I’m basically taking it as a precautionary measure. I have found that in general my vision has improved some and my eyes are not red in the morning. The cap is easy to swallow and I take it with a full glass of water .I have to time it perfectly as to the timing of any dairy ,antacids, and calcium consumption. I Feel that it is doing good!"

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "Just a tip for anyone having issues with nausea while taking this product: I was experiencing the same issue and I switched to the chewables. Ever since that I have never felt it again! I think something in the pills gel coating causes that feeling. Hope that this helps!"

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "Dr said I needed cataract surgery. So, I decided to have the surgery on both eyes. During my first visit, for the preop eye exam, the optometrist recommended AREDS 2. I've been on the ARED for that 18 months, and have just come into some unstable blood pressure readings. [I take no BP meds]. I mistakenly was only taking 1 tab a day. Started on 2, recently. [Up until I started the 2 tab dosage, I had no BP abnormalities.] Seeing these comments from others, I have linked the stomach pain, diarrhea, constipation, blurred vision, headaches, upset stomach, I am experiencing, to this drug. My situation may be unique, in that I take an over 50 multivitamin, 5000u D3, 99mg Potassium, glucosamine/chondroitin. Vitamin overload? My daughter, a RN, has warned me about excessive potassium. Can cause heart issues. I am discontinuing the AREDS. HTH,"

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "As my husband takes a lot of medicines it was hard to tell which started his thankfully past illness. He started getting mouth ulcers. We went to the ER sent him home though it was canker sores and would go away. After that he became dehydrated and nauseous, finally in hospital again for 6 days diagnosed with diverticulitis. I couldn't find the correlation until I was reading these reviews. He was taking these 2 times a day for 2 weeks before onset. Again not sure yet if these caused it but to be safe, than sorry. Throwing out and appointment with eye doctor coming up."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "It is most likely the zinc causing nausea, but could also be vitamin A. I have a very sensitive digestive system and I can take Lutein 40mg, Zeaxanthin, Vitamin C 1000mg, and E with NO issues. If your doctor insists, at least try the vitamins other than zinc and A and see how you feel. Some are better than non!"

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "I took this drug for about 7 years and during that time I felt almost constantly unwell with stomach pain, gastritis, fatigue, hand bruising, nausea, and more. I had many tests but drs could not figure what was causing my problems. Finally, one dr suggested that I stop taking Preservision AREDS2 for 2 weeks and within 3 days, I felt so much better...even my hands stopped bruising. I think it's the massive amount of Zinc (80 mg) that one gets each day with the 2 capsules that caused my problem. Now I'm taking Lutein and trying to get more Zinc in my diet. There should be more information available about the pros and cons of this vitamin!"

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "My mom was prescribed this medication for her Macular Degeneration. She was 84 at the time. Poor thing, the first night she took one pill, she was doubled over in so much abdominal pain she couldn't sleep at all. I couldn't imagine why something for your eye would cause some abdominal pain. However, it was the only thing she had taken differently when the pain started. So we knew it was that. A few weeks later, I decided to try it myself. I had such intense cramping in my abdomen, I couldn't even stand up straight. So based on the reaction my mother and I got, this medication dose is too high for people to take. They need to figure out the dose that will still work to help with the eye diseases, but doesn't cause you to double over in agony from abdominal pain!"

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "I'm so sick right now, I don't really like typing this review. I bought a bottle of 120 PreserVision, per my eye dr. orders. I do have M.D. Last night I counted what was left in the bottle. I have taken 28 caplets. I have only been taking one a day. I have been so sick every day. Sick at my stomach, stomach pain, very weak, very tired, my back and joints hurting to the point I have had to use pain meds. I have been to ER with horrible pain in middle of my back around to my side and chest. It wasn't a heart issue. My vitals were ok and my blood test was ok. I'm a person who was walking 2 miles most days of the week. I can't now. I have low back pain, leg pain and heel pain. I have felt very unwell, every day since the day I started talking AREDS 2. I can't swear that all these problems are caused by PreserVison but after reading these reviews I'm not taking more. I told my eye dr. about my problems taking P.V AREDS 2, he told me to keep talking them."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "I began taking these as directed on box. Have had this dull migraine ever since. Migraine is dull because I've been taking my Nurtec for it. Nurtec normal kicks my migraines butt, but when it didn't I began to wonder if it was these supplements. So glad I came across this site! I now know it was being caused by a reaction to the Alreds2. The nausea wasn't from my migraine as I had thought too. It was from this supplement. So thankful for everyone who has shared their experiences here, as it is preventing me from the continued misery being caused by this supplement. If I hadn't came across this site & thread, I would have continued thinking my body either needed to adjust to the supplement or was experiencing an out of the normal migraine episode."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "Been taking Bausch & Lomb Areds2 for one week. I have experienced more than normal acid reflux and lots of belching, my eye floaters have become more noticeable, have experienced an increase of blurry vision, but the worst side effect is severe tightness in lower back. I thought maybe I had hurt my back, or had somehow got a kidney infection. Now after reading other reviews, I'm pretty sure the problem is related to these PreserVision vitamins. Am going to stop taking them immediately."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "I took my first dose an hour ago, felt nauseous within 30 minutes and was vomiting ten minutes later. I have vomited five times in the first hour. It was scary because the gel cap and it’s contents are red, so my first thought was that I was vomiting blood (I wasn’t). Now I sitting here wondering when this will end and whether or not I should be trying to drink lots of water to flush it out of my system or encourage more vomiting to get it all out. The level of vitamin e is no higher than vitamin e doses that I have taken in the past. It could be the night dose of zinc, or maybe just a reaction to the marigold or other ingredient in their product. I am also wishing I hadn’t bought the 210 count bottle. It’s only 7pm, but it feels like this is going to be a long night. Hoping the nausea passes soon."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "My doctor recommended this eye supplement to protect my eyes from the beginnings of macular degeneration which is currently stable. I take one tablet with breakfast and one with dinner and have done so for about one month. Well, I haven’t been sleeping soundly since taking these red pills. I’ll sleep for two or three hours and then need to use the bathroom and then two or three more hours of sleep, etc. I’m glad I found others on this site with sleep issues due to the red pill!! I’m going to stop taking it."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "I just wanted to improve my eye sight and my Mom recommended AREDS 2. Never taken them consistently but experienced nausea every time. Especially if I took it on an empty stomach. Two days ago I took my regular vitamins which consist of vitamin D and iron and a few minutes later took an AREDS 2 and got horribly sick. I had severe stomach cramps and nausea, I couldn’t get out of the bed I was in so much pain. After taking Prilosec and a Nexium I managed to feel a lil better that evening. The next day every time I tried to eat or drink water my stomach began to cramp and I experienced extreme dehydration and joint pain no matter how much water I drank. Hopefully the worst is over, will never take those again! They should be taken off the market or have some serious warnings on them!"

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "I started taking Preservision 2 weeks ago. After taking one pill in the morning and one in the evening I became very nauseous. Took recommended dosage for 2 more days and still became very nauseous. I have Glaucoma and was hoping this would help. Also, my vision has become blurry, my left eye is sensitive to light, and I had muscle weakness, hot flashes, and night sweats. This stuff is horrible. I have stopped taking it but still have some nausea. Hopefully, it will be better soon. FDA needs to inspect the ingredients or how it's made!"

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "I was prescibed AREDS2 by Retina Therapist. Said to take any brand. I chose Preservision AREDS2 as heard it was the best. Well after I started taking it the first day felt extremely nauseous, very shaky, diarrhea, blurred vision. I kept taking my 1 in am & 1 in pm with food and did it for 5 days and just became sicker & sicker. It was so bad. So I stopped taking & am having a terrible time getting it out of my system & its been 3 days and still sick. I am staying very hydrated. Saw my eye Dr and he said to stay off it and it should be out of my system in 5 days. This stuff is extremely high in Zinc 40 mgs per capsule so taking 2 you are getting 80 mg of Zinc which is way way too much, esp for me as I only weigh 98 lbs and am a small woman. That’s way way too much Zinc for me. Even 1 capsule of 40 mgs of Zinc is way too much! So I attribute the huge amounts of Zinc for causing me to get so sick. I have read reviews stating Zinc dosage was way too high. Will try one that has only 12.5 mg"

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "I should have checked before ordering this medication. I took my first dose, yesterday, and within an hour was horribly ill with stomach cramps, severe bloating, nausea and back pain. Somehow, it didn’t occur to me that it was the Preservision. I just took a second day’s dose, twenty minutes ago, and am already feeling sick, again. Googled and found these reviews. I’m so angry. This is ridiculous. This shouldn’t even be on the market or, at the very least, should come with clearly marked warnings. Sitting here, wondering if I should try to bring this dose back up or flush my system with water."
