For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have been on Provera 10 mg for about a month. I was initially diagnosed with uterine polyps and had a DNC done to remove the polyps, and my OBGYN prescribed Provera to stop the bleeding. It stopped for maybe 5 days but then started again and was way heavier with more clotting and cramping. My OBGYN, in turn, prescribed mefenamic acid in combination with the Provera, and it still hasn't stopped the bleeding. I've been bleeding heavily for almost 10 days now. I've started to see a slowing in the amount of blood, but it's not stopping altogether. It has been about 3 months of bleeding. Next step for me is a hysterectomy. I'm 34 years old and do not want to do that. I'm hoping this will work. It hasn't so far, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed."

For Endometriosis "I love the Depo shot. No side effects at all. I read so many negative reviews before I took my first shot. I have experienced none of the side effects I read about in the reviews. I have not had any breakthrough bleeding as many people described. I have had no periods after the first shot. Before Depo, I had painful cramps before and during my period. No pain and no weight gain. I am so pleased with this form of birth control."

For Amenorrhea "I am 35 years old. No children, never been pregnant. I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2014. I started taking this drug to jumpstart my period as it had been almost 4 months without it. My doctor recommended I start birth control to try to regulate my period. I started this on April 15th. By April 22nd, I started to get pains on my upper right side, almost cramping like near my rib cage. It’s been a week with these on-and-off again pains. I finished the medication on the 24th and started bleeding Tuesday. The pain still comes and goes. I am a little nervous as to what this could be. Does anyone have this kind of experience with this drug?"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I'm a 31-year-old diagnosed with PCOS. I've been having irregular periods since the age of 15. They put me on birth control, which regulated them. Now, older, they are worried about my blood pressure and blood clots. The longest I've gone without a period is a year and a half. The last 3 months, I've had spotting every day. The doctor put me on Provera, 10 pills every 3 months. I got my period on the 4th day of taking the pills and am now dealing with debilitating cramps, heavy bleeding, and clotting bigger than quarter size. I bleed through a tampon and pad every hour. Had to leave work early today because I bled through my pants in a matter of 30 minutes. It's been like this for 3 days and is unbearable. When will it end?"

For Birth Control "On 9/13/19, the nurse gave me the 1st Depo shot, but she didn't say anything about the side effects. I spotted until 1 week before Thanksgiving. Then I bled every other day. I gained a few pounds, had no sex drive, experienced vaginal dryness, and had some strong cramps. On 12/29/19, I went to the ER, and the doctor said Depo is making me bleed, and it should stop within a couple of months. After that day, I bled heavier every day, and I was getting tired of it. I went online to see reviews about this, and I discovered a remedy. I took two 1300 mg Evening Primrose oil capsules each day, and on the 5th day, my bleeding stopped. The FDA should never approve this shot. I hope one day the FDA will take this off the market. No lady should suffer like this after taking a medicine that should help them."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "At first, I went in to get treatment for uterine bleeding, which I’ve had for over 3 weeks. I was prescribed Provera 10 mg once a day for 10 days (which stopped the bleeding instantly). Soon after, during my 5th day of taking the pill, I started to cramp with slight bleeding. By the 3rd day into my “menstrual cycle,” I started to bleed heavily. Now, I’m on my 7th day, and there’s no sign of slowing down. The doctor told me it typically will last 2 weeks, and if I’m still bleeding heavily, I’ll need to see her. The doctor also said if I’m not changing no more than 2 pads per hour, it’s normal. I’m kinda irritated and scared."

For Birth Control "I do not recommend Depo injection! I thought getting on it was going to help my period issues, also the fact I was told I had endometriosis (which turns out I don't). When I got on it, I was fine for the first month and loved not having a period or the pain that came with it. By the second month, my moods started to change and I got very mean and aggressive towards people and anything they said. By the third month, I was a total train wreck! I would cry constantly, and I fought with literally anyone and everyone! I decided to get off Depo for the greater good of relationships with my family and my boyfriend. I thought getting off it was going to be a problem solver, but I got off it and it got worse! Multiply the other issues I talked about by 10! Which now also includes cramps, terrible emotional problems and thoughts, questioning my relationship (it comes in waves-I love him tremendously, and then my brain goes, do you?), and more, unfortunately. Please read reviews before getting on Depo!!"

For Amenorrhea "During the ten days on Provera, I was emotional, my boobs hurt severely, my face broke out like crazy, and I had horrible fatigue. Two days after the 10 days of taking Provera, I have the worst period I have ever had in my entire life. Having to change my pad/tampon every single hour was disgusting, I couldn't even enjoy a shower because even afterward I still bled nonstop. Each day that passes, the heavier my period gets. Today is my 6th day, and 4, 5, & 6 were heavy as hell, but 5 & 6 had excruciating cramps. And too many blood clots! :( I do not recommend this pill at all."

For Endometriosis "I got on the shot in April 2012 for many reasons. 1. I worked at the YMCA in the pool, and I didn't want to worry about bleeding. 2. My cramps were torture! I wouldn't be able to get out of bed. During the first month or so, I did spot and have some cramps, but they eventually stopped. I love the shot. I did gain some weight, but that was somewhat my fault because I stayed inactive. But with a good diet and some exercise, you won't gain weight! Recommend it to everyone!"

For Amenorrhea "I've never had a period. I'm 32 years old. My husband and I want to try to conceive a baby naturally. The doctor put me on Provera to kick start my ovaries because they are half the size of a normal size ovary for my age. It has been 5 days, two 10 mg pills a day. So far, nothing. I'm starting on another 5 days today. So far, 2 bad dreams and one panic attack. Nipples sore and cramping below navel, but nothing serious."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Been on this medication for nearly a week now. I am bleeding terribly, really bad cramping. I am 42 now, and I have had irregular periods for 3 years, but now it's a nightmare. It just feels like you are the only person going through this, it drags you down. Ladies, any idea how long these pills take to kick in to bring the bleeding to an end?"

For Amenorrhea "Stopped seeing my periods for 5 months after using Oralcon contraceptives. I then went to a gynecologist, and they said I have one 4 cm fibroid. Then on the 6th month, I had my period, but it was super heavy. When I woke up in the morning, I couldn't walk, and when I sat on the bathroom seat, clots just fell out... like so many clots. Went to a doctor, I was given Provera to take for 10 days, and then after, I saw my periods. Today is my third day, and they are not heavy, hopefully, they stay like this. I have minor period cramps, but not so bad."

For Amenorrhea "I’ve started taking Provera for having missed a period for a couple of months and trying to conceive. I’ve had irregular periods in the past on and off because the doctor told me I’m “somewhat polycystic.” I’ve taken the 10 mg for 10 days. While taking it, I felt moody, had acne breakouts, breast tenderness, and mild nausea. I started spotting on about day 4 after taking it. I’m now on day 6 and have SEVERE cramping to the point it hurts to breathe. I remember taking this in the past, and it made me have the worst period ever. I know the lining needs to shed, and when it does, it’s going to be sooooo heavy. Guess the pill does the trick, but just have to be ready for the pain :("

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "My cycle has been on for over 3 months, so I went to the doctor. She prescribed Provera. The first day after starting the medication, I cramped (I'm not a cramper). The cramps stopped, but the bleeding never did. About two weeks on the pill, I started bleeding really heavily and passing too many clots, then I came to research. I wouldn't recommend this drug to anyone."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I started my first Depo-Provera shot at the beginning of January and have been bleeding lots of bright red blood for about 2 weeks now. After reading everyone’s reviews about the nightmare not ending even after stopping the injection, I’m really regretting this decision. I’ve had the worst cramps ever, and I’m bloated and feel exhausted every day. Having a full period for 2 weeks is ridiculous, and the fact this can last for months is stressing me out. I was very optimistic about trying out another form of birth control since I had issues with the combination pill. My doctor said I would experience just some light spotting until my body adjusted, which isn’t accurate. Please avoid this injection at all costs! It isn’t worth the possibility of being stuck with these horrible side effects for months until it’s out of your system and maybe even beyond that! This was the worst mistake ever and not worth it."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I am 31 years old. Since the birth of my first child, I've had very heavy, painful periods. Often irregular, as in a couple of times a month. But I have been bleeding for almost 5 months now. Three months ago, I was put on Provera 10 mg once a day. It lightened my bleeding after a few days, then I had brown discharge for a few days. But I started bleeding again even while taking the Provera. I first had a 10-day supply, then a 30-day supply, another 2 weeks, and now 2 more. But it has changed nothing. I'm bleeding and cramping nonstop and still have no answers. No fibroids, polyps, or cysts."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have been using the Depo for 2 1/2 years now. I noticed during the first year I would spot lightly when I usually got my period, and my cramps went away. After the first year, my period pretty much went away for the most part. However, when I do occasionally get spotting, it lasts for about 2 weeks, and it comes at random times. In the past year, I can recall it happening three times. For me, it still beats getting regular periods, and it has taken away my horrible cramps, so I deal with it. The pill always made me sick no matter what brand I tried, so that is another plus with the Depo. But everyone is different, and everyone will react differently."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "So my doctor prescribed me Provera 10 mg for 10 days, and it completely stopped the bleeding, thank God. Seven days later, I got my period with the worst cramps ever, and I was bleeding really heavily with lots of blood clots. It was so uncomfortable."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Age 50. Provera was the worst for me. Heavy nonstop bleeding for a month. Took Megace. Per doc, waited a week. Now on Provera. Provera caused the following: anxiety, my blood pressure went up, cramping, huge bloating, ovarian cyst rupture. Into my second round of 10 mg for 10 days. Hate it. I am going back to ask for birth control pills. Anything to right my cycle that doesn't make me crazy."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have abnormal uterine bleeding, and after bleeding for 2 months straight, I was given Provera 2x before it actually worked. On top of it all, it took almost 5 days to fully stop my bleeding. Thank God I stopped bleeding, but I still have cramps. It’s been exactly 17 days that I have not bled. But now I’m wondering my pills are almost done. What's going to happen to me? Am I going to start bleeding heavily again? Is it going to never stop again? I’m so afraid of what will happen when I’m done with Provera. Ugh!!!"

For Birth Control "I’ve been on the Depo-Provera shot going on 9 months, and so far I love it because I have absolutely no periods and only spotted maybe once or twice for a few hours, and that’s it. I haven’t gained much weight, even if I did. I was weighing around 115 when I was active, but since college and not being active, I’m up to 120. I cramp every now and then, but mostly when it’s almost time for my next shot! I’ve heard some bad things about it, though, so not sure how long I’m going to keep doing it, but so far I love it!!"

For Birth Control "I've just gotten the second shot today, and I must say I love it. I haven't had my period, had the tiniest bit of spotting. I still get cramps when I'm due for my period, but nothing else. I have also not gotten pregnant at all. Probably the best decision I ever made."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I am 56 years old. I have not had a period in 10 years. Last month I started again. Extremely heavy flow for 2 weeks. Had a vaginal ultrasound and found no signs of cancer. Yesterday I started again, today I started taking Provera. I am hoping it stops the bleeding. Heavy bleeding, cramps (front and lower back), and clots."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I cannot stress enough about how bad the Depo is! I got the shot in Sept. 2019 and am still having horrible side effects. I am so bloated, sore breasts, and having intense cramping. I've been bleeding non-stop for almost 5 months now. This is so depressing! Along with that, I am having extreme mood swings and depression. I never had either of those things before. I wish I could go back in time and never get this shot ever. I only had one shot, I had no idea these horrible side effects would last so long."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I only had one shot. It lasts 3 months. During those months I got my period the first month and not the other two. Now I came down to Trinidad on vacation before I was able to get my second shot. Now I've been bleeding for 3 months straight. I know this is abnormal. I have the worst cramps, and my whole body hurts."
