"I suffer from PTSD. I have been in therapy for years, and nothing has helped the obsessive thoughts, nightmares, depression, and anxiety. In fact, I felt like I was getting even worse. I was very resistant to being prescribed medication for a long time, as I didn’t want to rely on it and was scared of the side effects, but finally did, as I felt it was my last resort and was having suicidal thoughts. My doctor put me on 20 mg of Prozac daily, and it’s only been a week, and I feel amazing. It is hard to put it into words, but I feel NORMAL finally! I still get bad thoughts, but I don’t obsess over them. My anxiety is gone, and I actually have interest and hope in the world and future. My friends and family have noticed the change in me! I have some mild nausea and headaches as side effects, but they may go away soon. If you are on the fence, please give it a chance. You deserve to have a good life!"

For Depression "I had never taken an antidepressant before. I was recently diagnosed with gastritis and irritable bowel syndrome and have been dealing with many emotional issues for quite a long time before these health problems. The constant nausea from the condition only worsened my mood and outlook on life. I was on Prozac 10 mg for exactly a month. After 2 weeks, I noticed a HUGE difference in my overall mood and outlook on life; it was wonderful! After 3 1/2 weeks, my entire body started to itch: palms of my hands, in between fingers, behind ears, feet, legs, arms, you name it, it itched! Finally, I talked to my doctor and decided to stop Prozac and start Paxil. I hate that I had to switch, and I'm not too excited about it. Hope this time is a charm."

For Panic Disorder "I have Major Depression and Panic Disorder. It seems like every antidepressant and benzo I have tried just does not work. My Dr. has now just prescribed me Fluoxetine (Prozac) 10 mg, to go along with my Klonopin 1 mg that I had been taking for 6 years (I eventually developed a tolerance to my Klonopin, so it stopped working properly). After being on Prozac for nearly 4 months now, I have gone through horrible side effects of nausea, diarrhea, insomnia, and head exploding syndrome. I am in a constant fog. I get confused very easily and 'space out' all the time. The only beneficial thing I have gotten out of taking Prozac is that I have somewhat better control over my emotions."

For Anxiety and Stress "Today is only my first day, and I have to say I got really angry with something that happened at work, and normally I can shrug this off, but it's like I couldn't control it, and was super quiet that morning. Then, through the day, I felt better. I've had headaches and bad diarrhea. The headache happened before the medicine, so I'm not sure it's related, and very slight nausea. I'll blog again once a little more time has passed."

For Depression "I take Prozac because I have stomach issues of nausea. I have been on 40 mg for some time now. I really do not remember having many side effects except that it made me tired. It is supposed to be a happy pill. I will go off of it for a week or two, and I do not notice my being unhappy or being happy when I go back on it. When I go off it because I am too lazy to get it filled, after about a week or two, I feel like I am coming down with the flu, i.e., body aches... even to my fingers, shoulders... all over. As far as making one tired, I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and need a lot of sleep and still feel like I need more. I just zonk out. So I did not notice any ill effects in taking this drug."

For Depression "Stay away from this drug. I took 20 mg for a week and then my heart was racing so bad that I became nauseated and couldn’t eat at all. I couldn’t focus, and I seriously felt so awful. My doctor told me to keep taking this medication, but I couldn’t keep taking it, so I stopped it. It made my anxiety so much worse. I remember lying on the floor almost in tears. Please don’t take this drug. I thought the reviews were wrong, and they weren’t! Stay away! This is really bad."

For Major Depressive Disorder "This review is about how Prozac worked for my teen. He started on 10 mg Prozac to treat depression. My husband, son, and I were nervous because we do not use a lot of medications. The 10 mg Prozac worked quite well for him for a couple of months, and we could tell a positive difference in his mood in less than a week after beginning to take it. He did have some mild digestive side effects. Eventually, his doctor moved him up to 20 mg Prozac, and the digestive side effects became worse, so he went back to 10 mg, but the digestive side effects continued, and he eventually quit taking Prozac because his stomach was bothering him too much—diarrhea, gas, and nausea. His depression returned in a month, so he restarted Prozac, his mood improved, and his stomach troubles returned. His doctor next suggested Lexapro. It took several weeks for the Lexapro to help his mood, and when it finally started working, the digestive issues began again, so he weaned off."

For Depression "I was prescribed 2-3 weeks ago... was so happy to finally have something I thought would help prescribed to me. I tried it for two days... felt my depression/scary scenarios get worse, so I stopped. Depression was still there but not as bad as it is when I am on the pill. I took it again to see if it will finally work this time... it's my 3rd day, still feeling worse but I'm trying to wait for it to work because I've read it works after 2-3 weeks. So I hope it helps... :/"

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have been on Prozac for 3 days. Last night I started having chest pains and I couldn’t breathe. I try to eat, but I get nauseous and am not hungry. I called my doctor to find out if it’s normal. I have been feeling anxious. Hope he calls me back."

For Anxiety and Stress "I took this medicine for 7 days, lost my appetite the 3rd day, worsened my insomnia, it did not help with anxiety. By the 7th day, I felt even worse, finally decided to come off it. This is my second day off Prozac, and I still cannot eat, sleep, still have bad anxiety and feeling sick to my stomach and cannot eat anything. I'm extremely nauseated, haven't eaten much in 4-5 days. I hope my appetite comes back soon! This med did not work for me, it made me feel horrible."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I have been on Prozac now for a while as I suffer from OCD and PTSD also. I feel as if it has made me crazier, if that's possible. Some days I can't stop twitching, feel full of energy and experience nausea. Other days my bones hurt, I feel not fully awake and just odd. Keeping in mind that daily, I have high levels of caffeine and smoke marijuana. And not daily, but weekly, I drink quite a bit of alcohol. I have noticed alcohol and Prozac really don't mix. But nevertheless, I am still taking 20 mg daily (which I do not think is enough) but then some days I want to stop taking it altogether? I do not, although Prozac doses shouldn't be skipped, but evidently the only words I can use to describe this drug are odd and weird and idk???! uugh."

For Anxiety and Stress "I bore the side effects of this medication, 20 mg for 6 1/2 weeks. Nausea, no appetite, no sleep, tired from morning till night, then I couldn’t sleep! It did nothing for my anxiety. I actually felt worse!!! I’m so glad I’m off of this terrible drug. Going to try something more natural, like the naturopathic route or laser for anxiety. Goodbye, Paxil! Don’t let the door hit ya in the 'you know what' on the way out!!!!!"

For Anxiety and Stress "Had my dosage upped to 20 mg. Prozac isn’t doing the complete job for me quite yet. Side effects for me: light nausea at times and trouble achieving orgasm. I still can, it’s just much harder."
