For Birth Control "I was on NR for 3 years the first time (mid 20s), and I absolutely loved it. It was SO convenient to only think about my birth control 2 times a month instead of daily. I did not experience any side effects or weight gain, and my periods were light and short (only 3 days by the end). Now, 10 years later (mid 30s), I am back on NR. It has been 6 months, and unfortunately, I have noticed I get very emotional the week before my period. I will cry over the most insignificant things, and I am moody and angry to the point that I can hardly control my temper, even in professional situations at work. I am generally a happy person and have never had these kinds of issues before. Reluctantly, I must quit NR :( Best wishes, everyone."

For Birth Control "I have been using it for a while now. I get very moody, severe migraines, and, of course, my sex drive was non-existent. My husband hated it and begged me to switch. I have actually stopped using it just recently because it fell out. I didn't even know it fell out until I got my period all of a sudden. It's very convenient, though. That was the only good thing about it, besides that my periods were lighter."

For Birth Control "I read some horrible reviews about this birth control, and I mulled it over for about a year before going for it. The pill had so many side effects, I just couldn’t do that anymore. I would get so moody. But NuvaRing is the best birth control I’ve ever been on. It actually makes me feel calmer, I don’t have cramps, my periods last 3 days, my skin is clear and dewy, and I don’t feel the ring inside me whatsoever! The fact that I just change it out once a month and nothing else was the cherry on top of this whole experience. Also, it’s pretty good for preventing pregnancy too."

For Birth Control "I used the NuvaRing for a couple of years, and it was going very well. Recently, I started using it back to back instead of taking breaks for my period. I became very moody. I was also in between a lot of depression medications, but as soon as I took out the NuvaRing, everything seemed to change. I wasn't angry all the time or frustrated at the smallest things. I don't know if it was a reaction to my depression medication (Pristiq), but I feel a lot better now that I'm not using NuvaRing. When I was using it alone, it was great, that's why I gave it an 8."

For Birth Control "I have had the NuvaRing for 2 weeks and a couple days, and honestly, it is not too bad. I thought it was going to be worse due to reading some reviews. The first two days, I felt lightheaded and very tired, but that went away. The ring has not made me gain weight, I’m actually losing weight due to eating healthy and working out 5-6 days a week. The ring has never fallen out or tried to. I never feel it and forget it’s in there. I have more of an appetite, but it is controllable. Some cons are that some days I can be moody or irritable. I have been getting period cramps, some painful and some that don’t bother me at all. Another thing I have experienced is that one day I got very depressed, I just laid in bed and ate whatever I wanted and was very emotional for no reason. I’m sure it’s due to the ring because I didn’t know why I was so down that day, but I was fine the next day. It was very weird, but overall, it is an okay method of birth control."

For Birth Control "I have been on and off this medication for about 10 months. Overall, the pros are that I get less PMS, and it made my periods more bearable and predictable. Also, I am not pregnant. The cons are many... it makes me super hungry, like stomach-eating-itself hungry, and causes indigestion like mad, and not just in the beginning of taking it. All the time. It has made me more moody and slightly depressed. I am just not as happy as I should be or that I was before taking this med. It makes me more sleepy than when off of it. My boobs grew more full with this BC, and I am generally more bloated. This BC makes me hold on to weight more easily than before, and I gained about 2 to 3 lbs on it. Not much. Overall, this is better than the YAZ I was on before it, but just not worth the issues. I will prob go off it after my cycle."

For Birth Control "I had the NuvaRing in my early 20s and loved it. My insurance stopped paying the majority of the cost for it, though, and so I had to switch. I am now 30 and got back on it and hate it! I got through my first three months and felt okay. The next two months is where it got bad. My doctor recommended it for my PMS symptoms, but it made them worse instead of better. I was moody, and I mean MOODY! So much so that my boss asked if I am alright because I am typically a happy person. I felt extremely tired all of the time. Had basically all of the pregnancy symptoms. Gained 12 pounds in one month out of nowhere. Headaches all day, every day, and nothing would relieve them. I took it out a month ago and have already seen a tremendous difference in all of those symptoms."

For Birth Control "I have tried several different BC from combination, mini pill, extended, and now NR. I absolutely hate it. At first, it was awesome...no daily pill to remember! As time went on, I became very moody. I have absolutely no sex drive. I have also gained some weight. This is my last month on NR. I will either change back to the mini pill or go on Skyla."

For Birth Control "I've been on this birth control for about 2 years. I just recently stopped it in the middle of my 3-week cycle (I got my period 2 days after I took it out, so beware). When I first started this, I felt anxious a lot and always moody, definitely didn't have any libido whatsoever. Also, I gained so much weight, and I exercise and ate pretty decent where I shouldn't gain 30 lbs altogether. When it was about a year into the ring, I gained about 15 lbs, then I stopped it for 2 months, lost a few pounds easy, and then put myself back on it and gained 30 lbs. I really don't like it and don't plan to go back on it. It's funny when I stopped, I lost 5 lbs the next day."

For Birth Control "I love NuvaRing. A few years back, I went on the pill for a few months and was almost suicidal. After dating my boyfriend for several months, I decided it would be safer to go on some form of protection, and my physician recommended NR. The first month and a half, I was an emotional wreck. Irritable and moody, and it almost ruined my relationship. I feel nothing now except for a moment of cramping. He can't feel it during sex either, and I never feel it day-to-day. I am very dry during intercourse regardless of the level of stimulation. That's my only complaint."

For Birth Control "I am 35 and have been on many methods of birth control since the age of 21. For the past 7 years, I have had breakthrough bleeding off and on, so my OBGYN suggested I switch to NuvaRing. Breakthrough bleeding has almost completely resolved. But the cons of the ring have been pretty bad - horrible acne (painful bumps, cystic acne on chin/jaw), depression, moodiness, crying, trouble focusing, vaginal dryness and discharge, abdominal bloating, etc. I have been on NuvaRing about 7 months now, as I was hoping my symptoms would lessen or resolve - not happening so, I called OBGYN today and am getting a new script for a new pill. Pros are that it is convenient. I had no loss of sex drive, no hair loss, and it never fell out during sex. Just can't deal with the cons."

For Birth Control "I was on NuvaRing for exactly one full week, and it was the worst week of my life. No matter how much I slept, I was still tired. My normal sleeping cycle was now 13+ hours a day. I was so moody it almost made me and my boyfriend break up. The depression was insane! I cried so much within this week, and I can't even explain why. My friend is on the NuvaRing, and she faces none of these side effects, so I guess it depends on you. I personally will stay away from birth control as a whole from now on. The side effects were terrible, and I truly hope I can bounce back from this."

For Birth Control "I wrote a few days ago regarding my very first experience with the ring, which that was my first day with it. I experienced nausea and fatigue, and as the days progressed, things became somewhat worse. I ended up feeling dizzy and lightheaded, moody, and not motivated to have sex. I removed it earlier today and am already feeling much better without it. I wished so bad that it would not affect me so much badly. But unfortunately, it did."

For Birth Control "Decided to try NV because the pill was inconvenient. Thought it is the lowest level of hormones available, it is of local action-so should be few side effects due to minimal systemic absorption. Wrong. I felt moody the whole entire time. And in my mind, I knew it wasn't my typical disposition, but it was so overpowering, I just couldn't help it. In addition, I felt itchy all over my legs. I was constantly scratching. There were no hives or ingrown hairs, and I didn't change anything else in terms of my activities, diet, or medicines. I felt tired all day long, every day. And the worst thing was this terrible rash on my forehead that looked like tiny acne. That was the last drop before I pulled it out."

For Birth Control "I started the NuvaRing about two weeks ago. And for the first couple of days, I felt nothing. I loved it and thought it was going to be a smooth experience. Well, I was wrong. I soon began to once in a while feel headaches and lots of tiredness. Then I did not feel myself at all. I felt like I had no feelings whatsoever toward anyone at all. It was making me not even want to have sex at all, so what was the point of even getting on it? Even my mom and boyfriend said I didn't seem myself. I was super moody and kind of depressed. I took the ring out last night, and I already feel better and back to my happy self. Do not recommend."

For Birth Control "I have had a good experience on this birth control. Honestly, I was terrible at taking a pill every day. So I switched to this after a year on birth control pills. It's convenient. Unnoticeable. You don't feel it, neither my partner noticed it, only on a few occasions. No mood issues. No unusual bleeding issues. No weight gain or anything honestly medically concerning. I would recommend it to my friends as it was to me. The only thing I would say is it's tricky to insert, but it loosens up. You can remove it during intercourse too. I tried that, and honestly, now I just leave it in."

For Birth Control "I'm 19 and have been on the pill since I was 14. I recently changed birth control to NuvaRing, and it has its ups and downs. Pros: super convenient, easy to deal with during sex, doesn't slip out, and I can't feel it during everyday activities. As I read the cons of other women, I thought it wouldn't have pertained to me, but some do. Cons: my boyfriend and I feel it during sex, so we take it out; it gets me very moody and emotional. If my sex drive was at 100%; it's now at 40%. I'm going to stick with it though. You won't know how it affects you until you try it."

For Birth Control "I love it, not having to take a pill every day! It's amazing so far. I've been on it for 3 weeks now. I haven't tried having sex yet because my doctor told me to wait. I hated taking the pill, and Yaz and Tri-Sprintec made me so depressed, moody, and I had no sex drive. No mood swings yet, and I start next week. My sex drive is getting better, so wish me luck."

For Birth Control "I've only been on it for a week now, and I have some side effects such as moodiness, breast soreness, hair loss, bloating, diarrhea. It's not too bad, though, and I hope it subsides. I like that it is more convenient than the pill. You don't have to remember to take it every day. But don't listen to people saying they hate it, because some birth controls work for certain people, and people complain about them all. Just experiment. Also, my boyfriend said he couldn't feel it, so that's a plus."

For Birth Control "I have been on NuvaRing for 5 months now. I have become very moody, tired, upset, angry, and the thought of sex disgusts me. Now I hate the thought of sex most of the time, which is very unusual for a 19-year-old girl. We argue and fuss all the time. Every day after school, I am just tired and want to come home and sleep. I randomly get nausea and cannot eat. I did not notice that the ring may be affecting me until I decided to look at other users' reviews. On the other hand, it is so easy to use, and my periods are very light, but despite all of this, I am going off of it."

For Birth Control "It works great and controls my irregular cycles. I like that I don't have to think about it all the time, and I don't feel it during sex, though there were times it did tend to slip out. But it's not a common occurrence and varies from patients, I guess. I do notice I get moody, but that's really nothing. I was off it for about a month and nothing wrong, but I am back on it again since I like to know when I'll have my monthly. I would recommend this method mainly for those that forget to take pills daily. Other than that, I guess pills would be cheaper."

For Birth Control "I will be starting my third month on NuvaRing tomorrow. I'm not in love with this birth control and might discontinue. The first month was great, no symptoms at all. On the third week, I took the ring out as directed and started my period the next day. This second month hasn't been so great. I pretty much began having pregnancy symptoms. I have nausea, I vomited once, and tender breasts. I just feel slightly sick and have been for the last 2 1/2 weeks. This week I am off the ring, and I was supposed to put a ring in tomorrow but had to go to the doctor to get a pregnancy test because I have completely missed my period. I'm not, thank goodness, but these side effects have been getting worse. I have been getting headaches, and I am a moody brat lately. Not good."

For Birth Control "I have been on both Kariva and the mini-pill and hated them both. Kariva gave me terrible headaches that put me in the emergency room. The mini-pill made me moody, gain weight (not water weight-FAT! I gained 20 lbs. and had to buy ALL new clothes), lose ALL sex drive, and drained me of all energy. I have been too scared to try birth control again up until recently, and I chose to go with NuvaRing because of its lower dose of estrogen and novel delivery system that delivers estrogen at a constant rate. I am almost on week 3, and I am not experiencing any side effects whatsoever. I am so happy I finally found a birth control that fits my body. My acne has also been clearing up (I had it all over my chest and back)."

For Birth Control "I love the NuvaRing. No side effects. Easy - I just forget about it! I leave it in for 3 weeks, take it out for a week, and my menstrual cycle comes for about 4 days, then stops. It's foolproof! I can't even feel it. I was on the pill and had bad side effects - swollen, tender breasts, and moody. NuvaRing's a miracle!"

For Birth Control "I think this is a fine product for some. Easy to use and never felt it in. However, after about 10 days in, I experienced panic, tingling, nausea, increased irritability, moodiness, and signs of depression. In other words: it made me feel like another person. Friends I know have tried it and loved it, but I got the same hormonal BC effects, sadly, I'd gotten with oral BC pills. :("
