Emtricitabine / tenofovir disoproxil "I was unnecessarily prescribed Truvada post-exposure prophylaxis against the standard protocol at a clinic in Montreal. I was on it for a month. Midway through, I developed what I thought were intestinal issues. I was told not to worry about it and that there would be no permanent side effects. After discontinuation, the issue did not go away and instead got worse. I now have chronic pancreatitis. I am in constant pain. I can't sleep or eat. I've lost over 30 lbs in a month and a half. It has completely ruined my life. DO NOT take this medication unless you are 100% positive that you absolutely have to."

This went on for a month until I had what appeared to be a stroke, but all the stroke tests were negative. Once I stopped taking this, the headaches and the problem went away. For Nonoccupational Exposure "I had a needle stick injury at work. I'm really having a bad experience with this product, my eyes are itching and my vision is affected. My nose is always blocked, and I'm constantly tired. My chest is tight, I'm having difficulty breathing at times. I wish I could just stop the treatment, as I'm emotionally messed up. My hay fever is so much worse. It's really not going well for me. I wish there was another tablet I could take."
