"Much more expensive than the Miralax prep. I paid ~$80 out-of-pocket. I did like the fact that you only drink 10 ounces. (split in 2 doses) Then you follow up with clear liquids of your choice. The orange flavor was tolerable. I was instructed to take the 2nd dose at 8pm. I woke up at 3pm with almost unbearable stomach cramps. I've had a baby & kidney stones and the pain rated right up there! This was my 4th colon prep and I have never had this experience before. I got a thorough cleansing but don't know if that sort of pain is worth having this prep."

"First time colonoscopy. I'd say this was easy-peasy prep. Worked like a champ within 2 hours of first dose. Found this to be easy because of the low volumetric requirements. 1st dose, then 5 eight oz liquid. 2nd dose, then 3 eight oz liquid. Their website is helpful. Just select split or day-before options to get exact timing of your doses based on your appointment time. Good luck with yours!"

"61 yr old male, 3rd colonoscopy, 1st time for prepopik - $40 after insurance. Followed all product instructions. 1st dose @ 6pm, 2nd dose @ 11pm for a 7am procedure. Taste is very mild & easy to swallow. For my liquids, alternated sprite, Gatorade, apple juice, and beef broth. Also alternated lemon, pineapple, and lime jello when hungry (allowable per instructions). Several hrs for 1st action, then sporadic trips as needed. Actually slept in bed from 2:30-5:00am. No cramps, nausea, dizziness, fever, huge gas explosions, or other ugly side effects (other than normal burning and raw feeling). Highly recommend moist wipes. Color was eventually pale brown/bright yellow before leaving home @ 5:30 (never clear). Colon photos were clean & clear."

"I used Prepopik one day prior to my colonoscopy. First, it is expensive when not covered by insurance. If I had not had a coupon it would have cost over $100. Second, it took a while to start working. Lastly, when they did the colonoscopy I was not sufficiently cleaned out and the procedure had to be rescheduled. I will use other more effective methods the next time around."

"It was $80 co-pay but worked well for me with only five 8-oz cups of water in the evening and three in the morning. I wouldn't be able to drink a gallon of alternative medication with gastritis. Important to follow instructions and mix the powder with water for at least 2-3 minutes, otherwise you will have nausea. It becomes warm when mixed. Set multiple alarms/look at the clock to drink water in recommend intervals. You will likely get an irritation of your butt from flushing out. Be prepared with Vaseline/A&D ointment and warm water baths to relieve the symptoms. I scheduled the appointment for 12:30 pm which was the latest available to avoid getting up at night as you need a few hours for your morning doze to finish working."

"I had a positive experience with prepopik; the best thing about this style of prep is its allowance for the patient to consume fluids that appeal to her. Although getting the concentrate down in 5ozs or so is mildly unpleasant, it has a fizz to it and could be worse. It took 2.5 hours after ingestion for me to start passing stool, so I was mildly concerned that the prep wouldn't work for me, but I went on to have diarrhea for a few hours, slept most of the rest of the night, and followed the same pattern for the early morning dose, and produced only clear yellow liquid within four hours of the morning dose in time for my procedure. All in all, a positive experience, and I also included white wine in the evening "clear liquids"."

"To anyone panicking if it's been hours and nothing has happened: don't worry. I came here reading these reviews and started freaking out because I have a colonoscopy tomorrow, was supposed to have Colyte, it was out of stock, so I had to take Prepopik, and after 7 hours it hadn't started working yet. Even the Colyte took about 3 hrs to start working, but this one, I did everything right, drank all the liquids after and nothing happened for 7 hours! I was ready to call the whole procedure off in the morning and was so stressed, but as soon as I took the second packet followed by the 3 8oz. doses of liquids after the last drop of the 3rd 8oz. it kicked in. It's not over yet, but seems to be doing the job. Colyte was so disgusting to drink so much of, and made me very nauseous. This one, however, you barely have to drink anything, it doesn't taste bad, and I had less nausea. I wish you all well and speedy recoveries to those suffering from these terrible diseases."

"AWFUL AWFUL experience! 4 PM 1st packet with 5 oz of water followed by five 8 oz cups of water%u2026no results at all! 10 PM 2nd packet with three 8 oz cups of water. At 2 AM I called the "on call" doctor to report that there was NO EFFECT. I considered cancelling the appointment. Finally, my bowels started to flush at 3 AM! It's now 3:10 and I am absolutely NOT CLEAR. I will most likely be awake all night and my colonoscopy is at 8:15 AM. I am supposed to arrive at 7:30 to fill out paperwork and I am livid!"

"I'm 53 and this was my third colonoscopy. I did not do well with the bowel preps from my first two colonoscopies. I had difficulty keeping the prep solution down and it made me sick for a week after the procedures. In comparison, Prepopik was fantastic. It was still a bowel prep, but a lot less traumatic on my system. The taste wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either. I only had one small BM with the first dose and worried that it wasn't working, but the second dose kicked my system into gear. I took it at 10pm, but was able to fall asleep around 1:00am. The other preps kept me up all night. I won't be signing up for extra colonoscopies, but Prepopik will make the mandatory ones much easier! Thank you!"

"I was prescribed this for a diagnostic colonoscopy to investigate bleeding and loose bowels. I was assigned the split dose prep, were you take one dose in the evening and the other the morning of the exam. The first 5 ounce drink was easy to swallow and I was able to follow it with 5 cups of the clear liquid of choice -I chose two water, one chicken stock, one gingerale and one gatorade. After an hour the effects kicked in. I didn't experience any cramping or nausea. I went to bed two hours after taking it, and got up about once an hour for the next four hours. I was running clear at this time and considered skipping dose two. Instead I took half the second dose and fluids. I was perfectly clear for exam."

"It was my first time having colonoscopy and everyone is saying the prep is the worst. Prepopik made it really easy. Tastes good, only 5 oz to drink followed up by 5 glasses of water over the next few hours and then again 6 hours before the procedure. I was able to get little naps between toilet visits. No cramps or discomfort. No major time in the bathroom, just in and out. Totally worth extra money. "

"I am doing the prepopik for the first time. I've done the golitely and the miralax/Gatorade preps in the past. The prepopik is tolerable. It's only 5oz 2x so it's not too difficult. I started feeling it work within the first half hour of taking the first dose. My stool was clear a couple hours later. I took my 2nd dose 6 hours later as directed. It felt like I was pooping fire. It was HORRIBLE take your breath away burning. I did remain clear yellow though. The biggest struggle for me was drinking the at least 24oz after the second dose. I couldn't take in anymore liquid. My stomach was a mess. I had mild cramping tons of gurgling and a very uncomfortable digestion feeling. This prep wasn't worse than any of the others."

"After only 1 day of a liquid diet I was nervous but overall it was a good experience compared to what I've read about! It was $40 w/ coupon that the doc gave me. It didn't taste bad & was easy to gulp down. I didn't have any bad side effects(*Use baby Wipes!) It did take 6 hours for it to begin working (started 6:30pm it began 11:45pm) but the nurse told me that was normal esp. if you experience constipation. I only got 3 hours of sleep because I was constantly having to go. It ended just in time for the procedure at 9:30 am- toilet bowl was clear & yellow like pee. I had a last minute urge to go right before my procedure began too but the nurse said that was normal. I wish I had started the 1st dose earlier. Procedure went smooth; results good"

"I have to have scopes yearly, so I've tried several different types of preps. After trying Prepopik, I will never use anything else! It's the only thing that doesn't make me nauseous and also not having do drink much of it to get the job done is awesome! I will say that you have to make sure that the solution gets warm before drinking it, or it won't work as well. I think the frustration comes from people not reading the directions. :) Prepopik is amazing!"

"This is my fifth colonoscopy since my diagnosis and tried Prepopik on the advice of a friend. I had no cramps, vomiting or pain. I drank the required amount of liquid as suggested and then some. I think that is key. It started working in about an hour. It tasted a bit better than the other preps but the best thing was how little you had to drink. I heard no complaints from the doctor and when I go back in 3 years I will use this again."

"This is the first time using Preopik. Initially a little surprised it cost $45 with good insurance. I have Chron's disease and this is the 4th scope in 3 years. Have been on clear liquids all the day before. Took the first dose at 5pm as instructed and already have all liquid stool. Not the usual cramping and horrible urgency as with Gatorade and Miralax. Also does not feel like acid coming out! So far very pleased with the results! Not too excited for the 2am dose but hopefully it won't be too bad!"

"I was so very scared of this prep. I was supposed to do my colonoscopy months ago but was first prescribed a gallon jug of crap you mix with lemonade. That suff was so bad I couldn't swallow a sip! Tasted like salty lemonade, very gross. My Dr then sent me to a private Drs office. The office gave me a sample (was enough meds for the prep) of Preponik, cranberry flavor. I had anxiety over taking this med. I took first dose in one gulp,it wasn't good but was not horrible! I freaked myself out for nothing. It cleared me out and didn't give bad side effects. Don't be afraid of this,it's the easiest option I've been given and it worked!!"

"I recently used Prepopik for my first colonoscopy. I am 26 years old and in good health, it was scheduled due to family history. Prepopik was easy to take, I had a lighter day of eating the day before Prepopik started. On the day of preparation I was on a liquid diet all day and drank the most fluids I ever have. The Prepopik was easy to take, it just burned it a little. However, after my colonoscopy the doctor informed me that the Prepopik had not done a very good job cleaning me out. I need to go back in a year. It was recommended that next time to be on a soft diet 3-5 days beforehand (eggs, potato soup, protein) and to ask doctor about taking magnesium sulfate as a laxative the day before preparation. I will not be using Prepopik again."

"I was given this as prep for a colonoscopy. I had read negative reviews, but tried it. If you hold your breath and drink down the 5-oz., it's not bad. It gets warm as you mix it and would've been better cold. It started working about 50 min. after I took it. I noticed that warm/hot beverages (black coffee or tea) made it work faster. I had no stomach cramps, etc. with this. After the 10 pm dose, I thought my last trip to the bathroom was around midnight, but it was at 1 am. My doctor said I did a great job with the prep, so I'm sure it worked. I suggest you have a "light" breakfast in the morning - don't eat like you'll be starving for days. I think a heavier breakfast is what keeps people from clearing out quickly. I'll use it again!"

"It worked, but it caused me to pass out. I took this as instructed - 1 dose at 4pm and another at 8pm. My doctor's instructions were to drink 2 16 oz glasses of water/beverage or more after the 4pm dose, and that liquids could continue to be consumed after the second dose until Midnight. I drank some herbal tea. Things went fine after the first dose, and it seemed gentle enough. I went to the restroom several times and things seemed to be moving along. I took the second dose and by 10pm thought I was done. I woke up at 12:30am with stomach cramps and a pounding headache. I had watery diarrhea and became very dizzy. I stood up and passed out, hitting my head."

"Today was my third colonoscopy; so almost a veteran. First the good part: this stuff is easy to use, no bad (but not good) taste, no side effects (no vomiting, headache etc), no abnormal discomfort and produced the desired results (no detail necessary) in a reasonably quick time. The desired results were accomplished such that the doctor commented how squeaky clean my colon was. The slight downsides: - the split dose required doing this whole thing twice, including getting up at 2:30am (and of course not even thinking about going back to sleep right away) for a 7:30 am appointment. -numerous trips to the bathroom for several hours after each of the two packets of stuff and fluids. -out of pocket cost was $120, seems EXCESSIVE"

"Most palatable drink for bowel prep I've had to date (compared to 2 previous...but it is pricey depending on how much your insurance will pay: Tricare was good). I followed Dr.s advice on prep and bowel was clean and clear for pictures and work."

"I was having probably my 10th colonoscopy and the Dr prescribed this. What a joke. I have had IBS and uncontrollable diarrhea for the past 2.5 months. All this stuff did was constipate me! I was shocked when the Dr came out afterwards and said they had to abort the procedure! I was completely blocked after 2 days of liquid diet and taking the two doses of Prepopik plus all the water you have to drink after each dose. Two days prior I was having constant diarrhea days prior to this. I don't know what kind of snake oil this is, but it is unfair to paitients, esp, when their procedure has to be aborted!"
