Wellbutrin (bupropion) for Depression "I'm 26 and have been taking this medication for about 9 months. The first few weeks it made me shaky and thirsty. It immediately got rid of my sweet tooth, and it's true food doesn't quite taste as good with it, but I'm happier with that being the case. Before I took the medication I had been severely depressed for nearly 15 years and couldn't bring myself to take antidepressants. I finally hit an incredibly stressful period in my life last year that made me feel completely hopeless every minute of every day. Wellbutrin does not make me "happy" and "laughing like a kid" as some other users say, but it does make me feel like I am back to the same level that most people are on, kind of right in the middle, which is 100 times better than where I was."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) for Major Depressive Disorder "Took this years ago and it helped. Made the rookie mistake of stopping the meds because I felt I didn’t need them anymore. But duh that means they were working. When I stopped I got suicidal. Back on for two weeks now and it’s like a fog has been lifted. No real side effects. Just better thoughts and outlook on life. Can’t believe I stopped my meds before. Never again."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) for Major Depressive Disorder "Hardly any side effects. Had a little nausea for the first few nights but that’s all. I’ve noticed a HUGE difference in my anxiety and depression. I’m better at work. I don’t get worked up when I’m overloaded with work. I take 150mg XL at 8:30am and there’s no weird coming down feeling at night. It’s a beautiful medication. I couldn’t stop watching TV and now I can turn it off and do dishes, laundry, take my dog on a hike. I don’t have that gut-wrenching anxiety knot in my stomach anymore."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) for Major Depressive Disorder "This Wellbutrin is the only antidepressant I can tolerate. It seems to be one of the more stimulating ones, which I need because of my hypothyroidism. I can't handle a high dose so have stuck with 100-150mg 1x a day for over 5 years and I don't usually feel depressed. If I miss a dose I feel a little down and lethargic. I've smoked on and off for 20+ years and I can't say it helps me in that area--at least not at the dose I'm taking. I've been told I am wired differently than most (O-) and so far this is the only mostly effective antidepressant I have ever taken without side effects."

For Smoking Cessation "I smoked for 25 years (anywhere from half a pack to a pack a day) and tried to quit several times and always failed. As of Feb 9 I started taking bupropion xl 150/a day. I kept smoking with a quit day of March 1st. The closer I got to the 1st, I was nervous but to my surprise....it worked! I even left ashtrays and cigarettes around. I just didn’t smoke and I wasn’t bothered by it at all. Crazy! Today I am 7 days in smoke free and honestly this is the longest I have ever made it without a cigarette and look forward to it continuing :) I should also add in that my desire for alcohol has diminished too. It just doesn’t taste as good. I definitely recommend giving it a try!"

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) for Depression "I started taking this when I felt like I was at the end of my rope and was frantic to find something to help me feel better. I had previously tried Cipralex and Effexor. I started at 150mg XL and moved to 300 after 2 weeks. I noticed a marked improvement in my mood and energy within the first couple of days! I did errands that I hadn't done in months, cooked, and wasn't sleeping all day! The drastic change in energy subsided, but still I feel like it helps me wake up in the morning. It slightly elevated my anxiety at first, but that subsided as well. This medication worked really well for me."

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) for Depression "This medicine has worked wonders for me. I started for 2 months on 150mg and then transitioned into 300mg. At first I had anxiety a little but it went away. I am much more happy, energized, I enjoy life more and I finally started to love myself. This medicine has given me my confidence back and I started to dress better, put makeup on in the morning and care about myself. I don't know how long I will be on it but it really gave me a huge boost to start living again and being around family and friends. I also lost 20 pounds so far. I am on a diet and its very easy to follow. I think this medicine is helping since I have no cravings at all."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) for Major Depressive Disorder "I was on a low and had no energy and was self-medicating with alcohol. I was always in bed, no energy, just blah! Crying all the time, missing work. I decided to seek help, and my doctor put me on this med a month ago. All I can say is wow!! I've not been stressed and worrying about every little thing. I have no urge to drink at all, and I'm able to get out and do stuff with my kids. Depression sucks, but I'm glad this med is working for me."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) for Depression "I started this 4 weeks ago. I was originally on Paxil but I was tired of its side effects. My doctor switched me to Wellbutrin after also trying Cipralex, Effexor and Zoloft. It works great. I had almost no side effects when I started it (I did with every other medicine). It does increase anxiety for me though. Wellbutrin gives me more energy and makes me feel alive again. Because of the energy, I work out now which helps counter act the anxiety. It did not increase my sex drive BUT it made me normal. (Paxil made it so I wouldn't even let my husband touch me). I have lost the weight that Paxil made me gain and then some! I would recommend it to people for sure but if you have bad anxiety like I do, try being really active as well."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) for Depression "I've been on Wellbutrin for a year and a half now. I had been reluctant to admit I was depressed even though I was miserable. I was rude and snappish with everyone, unhappy with myself and just wanted to die. Then I started Wellbutrin. Immediately, those thoughts in my head about what an awful person I was stopped. When I consciously tried to think about them again, I couldn't do it without my brain also coming up with all the reasons those negative thoughts were ridiculous and untrue. The only side effect I noticed was lack of appetite but that went away after about three weeks. This medicine works really well for me. I feel so much more like myself."

For Smoking Cessation "I took Wellbutrin to help me stop vaping. A lot of reviewers quit within the first 2 weeks, for me it was after 1 month. I was a heavy Vaper after 2 years of quitting cigarettes. It was hard for me to find reviews on Bupropion and Vaping. The first week I was anxious and had some irregular thoughts. The second week the anxiety went away but I had horrible headaches. The third week I had days where I felt completely down & every day I felt sick and slept A LOT. Just as I was about to give up and try another avenue I woke up one morning 28 days in & didn't want to vap & ALL of the side effects went away! (except for the vivid dreams but I'm okay with that) A few days later I gave up vaping completely. 15 days today & it is as if I'd never smoked and I did for 15+ years. I was nervous about being on an antidepressant at first because I didn't need it but I feel 100% normal. Also, I do not snack to replace nicotine cravings because of this miracle medicine! HANG ON!"

Wellbutrin (bupropion) for Depression "I'm on day 5 of Wellbutrin. I've had severe anxiety and depression for the past 10 years, and I'm 26 now. I've been hospitalized twice for suicidal feelings. Tried all different kinds of medications for the past 8 years. I had no hope anymore. I switched doctors this week after getting fed up with my old psychiatrist who I felt didn't understand me and couldn't give me the care I needed. My new doctor understands me and she started me on Wellbutrin this week. The first day of taking Wellbutrin I felt relief. The fog of hopelessness was lifted, and although my situation is still bad, I now feel like I have the ability to overcome it. Now on day 5 I'm feeling much better, like I can actually focus more on the present moment rather than being stuck in my head. Side effects have included dry mouth, some stomach issues, anxiety, and insomnia. My doctor gave me trazodone to sleep better which has helped. Please do not lose hope or be scared to try medications. They can help."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) for Depression "I had trouble with anxiety and having a "short fuse". I thought about death constantly and had trouble remembering things. In short I suffered from depression. I was horrible to my coworkers, family, and friends. I have never taken an antidepressant before. I have been taking Wellbutrin for 5 days and I can say that I feel better. I have energy, although I have noticed some heart palpitations...nothing worth seeing a Dr about. I have a decreased appetite but just slight nausea. I am in a better mood and seem to be able to let things that used to bother me just slide by. I do not feel like a zombie at all. I smile more and cry less. That's exactly what I was hoping for. I am a 45 year old woman."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) for Depression "I started taking Wellbutrin 150mg one week ago. I suffer from mild depression, but I feel like I am going through a rough patch in my marriage/life and needed something to change. I exercise regularly, own a business and sleep well, but just didn't have that "get up and go" that I felt others had. So, my doctor had given me a prescription for Lexapro that had horrible side effects right off the bat. Heartburn, insomnia, and this kind of stressed out feeling that made me VERY uncomfortable. My doc gave me a new prescription for Wellbutrin and I take it the moment I wake up each morning. I feel Happy, Energetic and Ready to tackle the day. No insomnia, but I do have a reduced appetite. This may be just the ticket!"

Wellbutrin (bupropion) for Depression "2 months ago, all I wanted to do was lay in bed all day & to be constantly distracted. I was always tired & Very irritable. I needed energy drinks to feel %u02BBawake%u02BB. I had constant thoughts of suicide and always over ate. Now after 6 weeks on the generic wellbutrin, I feel like a totally different person. I have energy to last me all day, I am much happier and I actually want to socialize with people. I laugh more & never cry. I am so happy this worked... I had a rough life and couldn't stop feeling like suicide was my only way out... This medicine is the best thing that ever happened to me."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) for Depression "I was set on trying Wellbutrin. I have tried Paxil and one other I can't even recall the name of. They made me feel like a zombie and my husband wasn't fond of them due to the sexual side effects. Wellbutrin was the hardest drug to get accustomed to. I went for a month having one side effect after the other. One week would be sleepless nights, the next would be general irritation at everything and everyone and perhaps the worst was nausea. I stuck it out and I am extremely glad I did. It has been amazing for me. I am much more motivated and excited about life. It increased my sex drive 100%! I also tend to be a social smoker and it obliterated that for me. I love this medicine. I take 400 mg daily."

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) for Major Depressive Disorder "I have been taking Wellbutrin 300 XL for about 3 yrs. It helps my depression a lot. I am able to function daily and not overreact. Started at 150mg and went to 300mg. Before Wellbutrin , I was very depressed, and working , parenting, and everything was causing me grief, sadness, and fear. I was overweight and I overreacted to small things. I felt hopeless and on edge everyday. I have a low functioning thyroid as well that may have been making my depression worse. So now I am on track. It took me about 2 weeks to feel a difference. Now I do have several of the side effects. I lost about 30 lbs. I have a low appetite, I have ringing in my right ear. I also have dry mouth, anxiety, trouble sleeping, and blurred vision. I can handles the side effects but not the depression. So I have stayed on the medicine. Also I suddenly stopped taking the meds one time and it caused suicidal thoughts and flu like symptoms."

For ADHD "I'm a 23 year old college student who didn't get diagnosed with ADHD until last year. I was on 150 mg of Wellbutrin XL then bumped up to 300 mg. The only way I can describe how this medicine makes me feel is even keeled. I love it. I'm not nearly as emotional, overwhelmed or distracted and my grades show it. The only complaints about this medicine is it makes me sweat and pee alot. Sometimes it makes me feel a little anxious but not all the time. Overall I'm very satisfied."

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) for Major Depressive Disorder "I was depressed for 9 years with sudden onset at 17 that was so severe I got it while eating only healthy with lots of protein and going to the gym 5-6 times a week while having the time of my life socially. Immediately, I knew it's not environmental so I started seeing psychiatrists. I was started on Zoloft, which helped partially but stopped working (made me bipolar-like). After Zoloft, I tried a lot of garbage like paroxetine, escitalopram, fluvoxetine, lamotrigine, seroquel, abilify, modafinil, duloxetine (even tried ordering Parnate from the black market but it got seized). The list goes on. Eventually, I begged my psychiatrist for bupropion and lo and behold, 1 week in, cured. From daily suicidal thoughts for 9 years to NONE. And no sexual side effects like others, only 150mg does it for me, no side effects at all. On 300mg, I get irritable and get amphetamine-like side effects (jaw grinding), so more does not equal better. This is my first review and hopefully my last (at least for depression regimen)."

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) for Major Depressive Disorder "My first antidepressant when I turned 22. Currently take 150mg XL once a day. It definitely felt like a super drug for the first few months; happier mood, increased motivation, less food binging, happier sex life. Wellbutrin XL will eventually slow down in terms of effectiveness. But even without the "high" energy, I am in a better place with it. Don't do this-- I stopped taking them to see if I still needed them and that was a good laugh. No physical withdrawals but my suicidal thoughts came back. So I learned to just be humble and accept a life with *at least* no suicidal thoughts."

Zyban (bupropion) for Smoking Cessation "I had my first cigarette when I was seven years old, by the time I was 51 it had grown 35 a day . I tried patches, hypnotherapy and cold turkey, none worked. Cold turkey was the worse, it gave me pains in the stomach for 9 days in a row. I eventually went to my doctor for help and he recommended Zyban. Almost immediately it worked. Day 1 wasn't the best, but by day 4 I had the smoking habit licked. For me it is a miracle because I always thought that I would never beat it. But Zyban saved me. That was 12 years ago, I now know that under no circumstances will I ever smoke cigarettes again. I can' t thank the manufacturers or my doctor enough for my release of this evil addiction"
