For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I was prescribed BUPROPION HCL SR 150 MG (once per day) for anxiety/depression as well as weight loss. Within days, it felt like the cloud had been lifted over my head, my mood was great & the FIRST DAY I took it, I noticed that I felt like I could eat and my brain and stomach knew when to stop. Even when I wanted to eat more, I just could not. In the beginning, I had to cut my breakfast/lunch/dinner servings in half and I was totally satisfied! I lost 10 pounds in the first 6 weeks. My advice is to keep a journal and track your progress! After 6 weeks, my doctor added TOPIRAMATE 50 MG TABLET 2 x per day. In 7 months I’ve lost 28 pounds, which is very exciting for me! Unfortunately, I’ve hit a plateau & the appetite suppression no longer seems to be working so, my doctor is increasing my dose BUPROPION 300 XL to see if this will help. I’m hopeful as I’ve had such success with it up until now! I’ll try to update my progress in a few months."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) for Depression "Okay, I came back to rate again. It has now been about a little over a month on Wellbutrin and wow it has saved my life. It was like a total switch in the way I think and feel everyday! For years and years I’ve been depressed but this year was so bad,I didn’t care about myself. I was also so unmotivated.. crying multiple times a day even while at work.. I’d be triggered by anything and start having anxiety attacks. Now, I can finally say I am happy with my life! It’s like I can see my life clearly now, it’s no longer a fog, I don’t obsess over all the negative things... I have energy to go to the gym often and eat right and I’ve lost over ten pounds. I have goals again and I have my self confidence back.I t feels unreal I did miss a few pills every other day for about a week and a half and I felt a difference, I cried once and I was also binge eating. But I went back to normal once I went back to taking all my pills on time."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) for Depression "I am not a proponent of Big Pharma, and have always had to try to "deal" with my problems on my own. I have a really excellent diet, exercise, don't smoke, eat an organic diet - I'm just saying I really take care of myself. I have had anxiety (with a little bit of depression) all of my life. I was diagnosed with PTSD a few years ago, as I was having severe anxiety about being accepted into nursing school, and if I would be able to handle to stress and constant pressure, and I also have concentration problems. I have been off and on SSRIs, which have been nothing but terrible for me...Paxil, Zoloft, & Prozac, of which made me feel like a zombie. Wellbutrin is GOLD. Not tired, less irritable, not panicky. It has changed my life."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "My doctor prescribed me Wellbutrin/bupropion when my insurance wouldn’t cover Contrave. I have a hard time making good food choices when I always felt hungry, which has been since I had my son 3 years ago. The bupropion really suppresses my appetite and makes it easier to choose healthy foods. I am down 9 lbs in the first four weeks."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) for Depression "Just starting this med. The first couple days, I didn’t think it was doing much, but I noticed I couldn’t sleep for very long. I wasn’t as hopelessly sad as I had been the week prior, but I was experiencing an array of stomach-related side effects (constipated until I was very much no longer constipated, bloating, stomach aches, & VERY nauseous the first night). Fast forward a few days, I still can’t sleep very much. I’m artificially active is the best way to describe it. I’ve been pretty inactive throughout the pandemic, but I walked to get iced coffee in 90 degree heat, cleaned my apartment, had people over, then went to the gym later because I was so jittery and couldn’t sit still. It also has given me quite a bit of anxiety and some irritability alongside the constant need to be active. I hope that over the next few days, the anxious thoughts, stomach issues, & insomnia calm down."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) for Depression "Before starting Wellbutrin I was so depressed, crying all the time, no motivation, no energy, no ability to make decisions or follow through with them, no desire to go anywhere. I've been taking Wellbutrin for about 3 weeks and within a 5 days I was noticing a difference. The crying has stopped, I'm more motivated, I have more energy and I'm making decisions I couldn't before. I have been active, forcing myself to go to the gym but now I'm more eager to go. Wellbutrin has made a huge difference for me."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) for Depression "When I tried an SSRI I ended up lying on the floor almost unresponsive. I won't take one again. In the last year my depression and anxiety got really bad. Horrible panic attacks, slamming doors, screaming, irritability... then came the suicidal thoughts. My doctor suggested Wellbutrin. I have a very sensitive body so I started on 75 mg once a day. Man. I noticed a difference within the first day or two. The third day I woke up with tons of energy and unpacked my suitcase that had been sitting in my closet for a week, before I even started working! Unheard of for me. My outlook on life has improved, I don't snap at my husband, I don't get annoyed. Plus I've lost 4 lbs and my sex drive has increased slightly. The only side effects I've had were the brain "zingers" people talk about (they have subsided) and pretty bad insomnia. I'm hoping the insomnia goes away, but right now the positives definitely outweigh the negatives! A world of difference!"

For ADHD "I've resisted medication for my depression for years, after terrible experiences with SSRIs: weight gain, suicidal ideation, flat affect. But finally asked dr to try me on 150 mg Bupropion XL. Within a week, my desk was tidy (a first), sleep improved, social anxiety and deep sadness reduced. Who knew?? All these years (I am 60), I had undiagnosed ADD, fighting against which caused depression. Transient side effects: mild headache, change in detecting odours (not in a bad way...noticed some perfumes that appealed before no longer do so, and visa versa with others.) But overall, this has been a godsend. I've done more ADD research (really, had no idea I had it as I was never hyperactive and am fairly high functioning) and am having both my son and mum tested. Consider this medication if you're struggling; it has changed my life."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) for Depression "Well I am very pleased to tell you that I started Wellbutrin XL 150mg for depression and anxiety and I can honestly say that it is a miracle drug! I started feeling much better after just one day, I could not believe it. It has been 30 days now and I have not had even one side effect. My depression went away almost right away and the anxiety took a couple weeks. But 30 days later I feel completely myself again. This medication is definitely doing its job 100%."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "im 62 ys old wh male, pre diabetic ,I requested my primary care dr to put me on bupropion for weight loss, I've been on it a few months now and gone from 243 to 211 with no side effects except dry mouth. I hope I can avoid diabetes, it runs in my family. I'm worried about my hair thinning, if bupropion is causing that. Again I'm 62 and have had fine hair my entire life. Anyway covid19 will probably get me, that is not the way I expected to go out. Hopefully God will look over me and pass me by the COVID19. so far so good."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) for Depression "Best medication I’ve ever taken. I didn’t realize how depressed I was before taking it. Now I have energy to get through the day. It also helped with my obsessive thoughts. I’ve never felt so much relief in my life. The only side effect is a slightly dry mouth but I’d take that any day over the hell I was living in."

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) for Major Depressive Disorder "I have been on and off different SSRI's and none of them have helped e.g. slept my life away, foggy mind, couldn't concentrate, no feelings, constant ringing in my ears, low libido. I started on Wellbutrin XL 150mg for 1 month and my doc upped my dose to 300mg. My experience has been super wonderful, from sleeping too much I am now going to bed later at night and getting up earlier & feel refreshed. I cry when I need to which to me is a good release. I am always busy. I have redone my whole home & garden, I go out more (use to be a total recluse). I sit & have my coffee out on the patio & watch the bird life and find so much joy in every day life. I have found an inner peace with Wellbutrin XL that I have never felt before. Big thumbs up :)"

Wellbutrin SR (bupropion) for Depression "I am a mother of 2 small children and I began this medication about 2 months ago after being on Celexa (which made me feel tired a lot and hungry all the time - I gained like 20 lbs on it). The first thing I noticed with Wellbutrin was a decreased appetite. Then I started to feel more alert - the same kind of alertness you would feel when taking Adderall. A few weeks into it, my mood was totally different. I was happy, calm, energetic - all the things that I wanted for so long, but never thought I could achieve, as I was very depressed. I was walking in a parking lot the other day and I thought to myself "wow. isn't life great?" - Wellbutrin is an AMAZING medication."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) for Depression "Wow. What an amazing drug. I have been on cymbalta for about 5 years, it was a life saver after a really bad period but began to lose its effectiveness. My doctor added wellbutrin 200mg and I feel like my old self again. Lots of energy, no feeling like the day is to hard to attack. No more feelings about giving up. No need for my daily nap. Wish I would have tried it 20 years ago could have saved a lot of needless pain. I am 40 now and have only been treated for depression for the last 5 years. If anyone out there feels sad all the time for no reason go to your doctor, it doesn't have to be that way. Anyway loving wellbutrin."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) for Depression "I began Bupropion about a year ago. Took a while to kick in, Waiting eight weeks for the hoped-for effect was like waiting eight months. I had tried another med and it left me with negative sexual side effects which is why the doctor suggested Bupropion. I've been taking low dose Viagra, honestly don't know if I need it . . . but Viagra works. I told my doctor that I'm okay, but don't seem to feel any drastic change from when I first began the med. She suggested upping to 300 mg extended release. After a week I began to feel better but, don't know if it is from the med or the high of knowing I made the attempt at trying to feel better. Wishful thinking is a good way to put it. So here's my question: Since I was already taking Bupropion at 150 mg/day extended release should I expect the new dosage of 300 mg to take eight weeks to fully kick in? Has anyone had this experience?"

For ADHD "I’ve been taking Wellbutrin for half a year and it hasn’t done anything to me. Well I went to the doctor because I can’t focus at work and school. And she thought I was depressed. I’m not depressed I get depressed because I can’t focus and I’m behind and everyday is hard for me. For example my main task is to do the laundry, but then I walk pass my fish tank I feed the fish, I see that is dirty start changing the water. Then when I’m at the restroom I clean the toilet. (Not finished with the fish tank). I remembered to feed the dogs, then I go smoke and then I water the plants. I get distracted with my fishpond. Start messing with it. Then I go to my room, then I see that I didn’t even put the dirty clothes in the washing machine I don’t end up doing it. Because I get mad at myself for not putting it in. In the first place."

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) for Depression "I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1996 soon after moving to Seattle. In hindsight, I've been *depressed* for most of the past 20 yrs. The long, dark Seattle winters didn't help, so I'm sure I suffered from Seasonal Affective Disorder, too. I avoided taking antidepressants all these years, fearing side effects, weight gain and turning into an emotionless zombie. NONE of these things happened when I started on Wellbutrin XL-150 mg. Instead, immediately after taking my first couple of doses, something miraculous happened: my 17-yr struggle with bladder incontinence COMPLETELY disappeared. I have my pre-Multiple Sclerosis bladder back! I'm also STRONGER on my bike than EVER (I'm an avid cyclist), sleeping great, dreaming vividly, losing weight and interested in sex like never before. MIRACLE MEDICINE (for me)!"

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) for Depression "I was diagnosed with Bipolar II and C-PTSD in 2015. I tried a handful of different medications, but I was also dependent on alcohol. I stopped drinking August 2020 and soon after went med-free (supervised) to see where I was at. What appeared to come about was depression mostly. When I started 150mg buproprion HCL XL, within 48 hrs I felt more energy, more activated emotions, less fog. It caused me to be more agitated and angry at first, but I knew it was because I was coming from complete numbness to actually having some feelings. I am now a month in and I feel happy about where I am with my mood. I say definitely give it a chance, especially if you are not a fan of SSRIs. Give it a few weeks and log your feelings. Being on this is far better than where I was in my depression. I wanted to share my experience and feelings because it has given me some hope and I want to share that with others."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I was originally prescribed 300mg wellbutrin XR as a true antidepressant. I have managed to completely stop smoking and I've lost over 20 pounds in about 6 months of taking my medication. I have seen most of the weight drop in the past couple of months. My only complaint is the headaches in the beginning for about a month. Tylenol knocked those out quickly though."

For ADHD "I was prescribed Effexor, moved to Cipralex, then to Imipramine and then to Cymbalta - doctor thought Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I was 2 years on Cymbalta and feeling impulsive, agitated, anxious, stressed, etc. Went to Psychiatrist instead of GP, he did some tests and indicated ADHD thing going on (anxiety was a symptom). Started Wellbutrin and what a difference. Clear concise thinking, lowered anxiety, not thinking at 100 mph and wow - impulsivity is controlled completely. Psychistrist and GP were floored! Now 6 months and only getting better. Wasn't able to save marriage but whoever gets me next is going to be very happy. Seriously, the control of Adult ADHD for me was life changing. Only side effect is not so hungry (not a bad thing)."

For Anxiety "I never, and I mean never, listen to bad review on drugs because I know everyone reacts differently. But please, for the love of God, listen to this bad review. I have mild to moderate anxiety and started taking bupropion 75mg, once a day, 3 days ago. It has been a living nightmare. 30 minutes after I take it I have massive panic attacks, feel like I can’t breathe and I’m losing my mind. I feel paranoid and “sketched” out about everything. I shake, feel dizzy and my thoughts are absolutely insane. If you’ve ever smoked too much marijuana and have an anxiety attack, thats just what Wellbutrin feels like. I’ve ended up just staying in bed. When I was driving on day 2 I had a massive sudden panic attack where I had to pull over. I didn’t even have that severe of anxiety before Wellbutrin."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) for Depression "This has become my miracle medicine. Some days I wonder if it's too good to be true!! I've battled depression and anxiety on and off for years. My doctors over the years kept giving me different SSRIs and those made me like a zombie barely able to get out of bed. With a toddler that's just not an option! I've been on it for about 6 weeks now and let me tell you the benefits: I'm HAPPY - like I have a desire to move and do things as opposed to sitting on the couch after work not wanting to do a thing until bedtime. It's almost like I'm on speed. I'm SO productive at work and home. I'm sleeping better - I was worried it would keep me awake but nope. Sex drive thru the roof. I've lost 10 lbs so far from suppressed appetite and working out!"

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) for Depression "This is the best thing ever. I was suffering from no desire to go to work, I couldn't wake up, I was always late, I lost my motivation to accomplish things, I was anti-social and really just hating myself and life. I was also flustered, confused, feeling out of control and miserable. I started Wellbutrin and by the third day I could REALLY feel the difference. My mind starter to clear, I wasn't hazy, my motivation was back and I could wake up early. This has been an answer to prayers. The study of the brain and body with science is amazing. I'm very thankful."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) for Depression "I have been on bupropion for about a year, 150mg taken every morning. I noticed a difference on day 2. Everything was just normal. Not bad normal, but good normal, like you woke up after having a really good sleep - and like a weight or pressure has been lifted. It's really hard to describe. Everything seems better. I kid you not. Music sounds clearer, looking around outside, it looks clearer...like I am out of a fog. So...I tried an experiment while I went on vacation. Didn't take anything for 2 weeks. My mood slowly returned to negative. Little things ticked me off, that shouldn't have. I decided to go back on. Same effect on the next day, mood lifted. It gives me slight insomnia, but also takes away some appetite. Great."
