For ADHD "I have Bipolar disorder and have ADD (not ADHD) for which I was on Ritalin (methylphenidate). My doctor switched me to Adderall because my concentration seemed to be waning again, but I don't believe it is working as well. Concentration is about the same, but it seems I am experiencing a lot more anxiety now than I did with the Ritalin."

For ADHD "I’ve been on Adderall for 9 years, and this shortage has made life miserable. For people who need it to get through daily life, we’re the people suffering the most. Teva was always the best generic, but I haven’t been able to find Teva for a year or more. The Rhodes kind and the Lannett kind are both terrible! The efficacy of both of those brands is extremely low like they are just sugar pills. Plus they’ve increased my anxiety and increased my number of regular headaches. The powers that be need to get this situation under control, or lots of us who struggle with ADHD and other comorbidities aren’t going to make it out alive. Literally. The depression I’ve struggled with for most of my life has been more severe for the last year, even though I’m still treated for it by my psychiatrist! We are real ppl w/Rxs from real doctors who deserve consideration! And our meds!"

For ADHD "Adderall is usually extremely helpful for me and is probably the only thing that allows me to be a productive member of society and running my own business. However now there are so many horrible generics out there. Just received a new amphetamine/dextroamphetamine generic made by Sunrise Pharmaceuticals. It makes me feel WAY WORSE than taking nothing at all. Why are there so many bad generics being dispensed these days? Aren’t these drugs batch tested for accuracy and efficacy? Somehow I highly doubt this stuff is real."

For ADHD "When I pick up my Adderall XR generic brand they are always a different color. I noticed the blue capsule keeps me awake, The orange capsule does nothing. I would love to know what the ingredients are. I can tell a difference between the two. When I take the orange capsule I am tired all day. When I take the blue capsule I feel awake and energetic. Why does the pharmacy keep changing manufacturers?"

For ADHD "Adderall is a interesting drug. I love it. Problem for me is it only last 2 hours per pill. And there is mild elation prefacing it and a crash. Not the perfect medication, but it is one of the best according to its effect size."

For ADHD "Adderall has helped me for over 10 years with ADD and narcolepsy for about 6 to 9 months now it's hard to get the drug stores, they are always out of Teva and when I get substitutes they don't work. Tecently my pharmacy has been alternating Teva and Lannett but lately neither one seems to be working hardly at all. I can't figure out why, what's up with these two companies and all the other generics were even worse."

For Narcolepsy "I've been taking Generic Adderall for 11 Years. In my opinion, Teva is the most effective generic, Mallinckrodt has been the worst, it makes me tired and gives heartburn which I never have normally. I just pick up a refill, new mfg, Alvogen. Took it a hour ago and keep nodding off. Looks like another generic to avoid."

For ADHD "Have used a generic for about 6 years now worked for me except it has turned me into a teeth grinder I do it all the time and now my teeth are worn to the point they are ruined. My doctor said he never heard of that side effect but a recent visit to a dentist to try to fix my teeth I was told they see this all the time and this grinding may never go away. I need to find something that works without these side effects"

For Narcolepsy "I have been soooo sleepy for the past 15 years of my life. I finally found a PA that listened to me about my sleepiness. She has been great. I can not afford the recommended sleep study. I am currently taking 10mg extended release. It has helped but I am still falling asleep at work. My PA will meet with me in after a month on it. I’m not sure if I need an increased dosage or if it’s not working on me. It’s a struggle still. I don’t want to feel hopeless that I can’t find help."

For Narcolepsy "Generic Adderall is not the same. I feel immediately awful when I realize they switched me to generic dextroamp (amp salts). Not sure what brand. I heard Teva might have moved distribution centers and have been alternating approved cheaper alternative ingredients. Well, guess what, they don’t work AT ALL. Check the generic brands when you get your script filled and see how you feel. The old generic brand I took worked just fine. I cannot get out of bed for weeks because whatever 'similar' generic cheap alternatives they are using do not make the cut. Welcome back debilitating fatigue!"

For Narcolepsy "I read a lot about this drug and it is hard to find anything about the side effects I have gotten. So I have taken Adderall XR 10mg (once in the morning) Just for a few days now. The first time was amazing and I actually had a road trip to take that day and I drove a whole 12 hours with no problems! That is really good considering I need a nap just an hour after waking up usually. There were still the positive effects but the side effects are just so bad. Food just doesn’t seem appealing anymore and I have constant headaches and stomach issues.Thats not even the bad part, I have had terrible hallucinations and makes me very paranoid and scared to do anything in my day. At some points of the day I feel fine but others I feel those side effects and episodes of tense muscles that tremble when I hallucinate and increased heart rate and heavy breathing. I keep reading all these amazing things about this drug and I want that for me too. If anyone has experienced I would love the feedback:)"

For ADHD "I've been on and off Adderall IR for the last year. When I'm on Adderall the first 3 months is amazing! I feel highly attentive and motivated. I have to take sleep meds because I'm so wired. The negative is the crash I feel by 6pm. It's like I transform into Angry Smurf - no longer talkative or cheerful and forgot about sex -- my libido shut down. My greatest battle is with food. I am constantly hungry and when I eat the meds seem to lose its potency therefore causing me to skip meals. I built a tolerance rather quickly on this stuff and it lost its efficacy. IN ANY CASE, DO NOT INCREASE YOUR DOSAGES. Instead take a break from Adderall and try another drug for a couple of months. This drug is not meant for long term use. Just few month. anything longer is just going to create a monster out of you."

For ADHD "I tried adderall first at age 17 (15mg a day), it helped a couple hours after I took it, but about 3 hours later I'd get extremely depressed and have depressing thoughts, then a couple hours later it'd just go away. This happened every time and I went off it shortly after. At 19 I tried it again at 20mg a day. Same good feelings for about 3 hours, and then a crash. However, this time the bad feelings weren't as intense and I didn't have depressing thoughts. I did experience more anxiety though, and the depression was still bad enough for me to dread taking the meds. I'm trying focalin now but I've only taken it once so I can't compare them yet."

For ADHD "I was prescribed Adderall 5mg in the morning to start for ADD not ADHD. I am 21 years old. After a couple months I got up to 20mg daily because the lower doses weren't helping. Make sure to eat something before you take it because if I took it before breakfast I wouldn't eat all day. After 4 months on Adderall 20mg daily it is not helping anymore and if anything made my ADD a lot worse. I'd be in the middle of a conversation and just totally blank. Started taking a lot of effort to think anymore. It also became really hard to do much of anything if I didn't take it. It also made me sweat profusely and gave me very dry and pimply skin. It worked well for a while when I didn't take it every day but when I changed jobs I started taking it daily and it's awful. If you are prescribed this don't take it daily like it's a maintenance drug or it'll fry your brain!!!"

"When I first began taking it, it was very intense-my heart raced, I had too much energy. For a while it was great-the racing heart and too much energy wore off after about a week. It did become less useful over time, but not to a great extent. The trouble with Adderall for me, was taking two a day at the "right" times. It was really the second pill, figuring out the right time to take it, in a way so it would help me the rest of the day, but not so late it would disturb my sleep. Since I had/have a poor sleep schedule, that was challenging."

For ADHD "I started taking adderall in 2012 to 2015 with a 15 month break in 2014 due pregnancy and breastfeeding. I was diagnosed with ADD as a child but held off on taking medication until I was 26. Adderall immediately helped with focus and even energy and motivation. I excelled at work and finally was able to complete tasks instead of starting them and trailing off to something else. In 2015 when I discontinued adderall, I was taking a pretty high prescribed dose of 30mg twice a day. I started noticing the cons of the come downs were outweighing the pros of when the medication was working. I had anxiety, irritability and extreme fatigue. They switched me to dex which was much smoother but has increased my BP. I try Vyvanse tomorrow."

For ADHD "I've taken Adderall for 2 years. The first 6 months, worked very well. Balanced me out, kept me focused & side effects were minimal. But, the efficiency of Adderall has really gone down in my experience. I often find myself hyper focusing on things I don't need to & the side effects have gotten much worse. Insomnia, horrible dry mouth (= more cavities), I get antsy & shaky at times & I also feel I've become dependent on it. Next doctors appointment, I will be asking to switch out to something else. Its a good medicine at first, but understand that many of the great reviews are likely written by newer Adderall users."

For ADHD "Adderall is effective, but it comes with consequences. Both to your physical and mental health. I am 27 years old, I have taken Adderall on and off for about 10 years. Started it my freshman year of college. It was AMAZING at first! Lost that freshman 15, got straight A's, actually ENJOYED my work. Then I started noticing the crash symptoms. Tired, withdrawn, emotionless, sleepless. I stopped taking it because I hated the way it made me feel, but I realized how much more productive I am when taking it. When I start taking it again my immune system is shot, I'm constantly sick with something, I get super irritable. When I don't take it I can barely get out of bed and I always gain weight, which always sucks. It's a vicious cycle."

For ADHD "I have taken Adderall for over 6 yrs now. At first it was the best! All my problems were solved. Higher concentration, longer attention span, lower appetite, more sociable. It was awesome. But over the years the side effects have caught up to me. Increased sweating, higher pulse rate, higher blood pressure, lower quality of sleep, dazed. My shoulder muscles are so tense all the time its almost painful. I'm prescribed 60mg a day, and that used to be great, but now if I take more than 30 mg my sleep quality suffers to the point where I'm a zombie the next day. Then I have to take more to feel normal, then I can't sleep again the next night. But if I don't take it, I'm completely useless for about 4 days. Therefore, I can't stop taking it."

For ADHD "I've been on Adderall for about 4 years. I was having an extremely hard time focusing, extreme fatigue, general feeling of being lost and overly emotional and unstable. Adderall was an absolute miracle when I started on it. My trouble paying attention, loss of interest in life, constant sleepiness and emotional swings were gone. It made me genuinely happy and self confident for the first time in my life. "
