This antibiotic, which belongs to the drug class of Penicillins should be taken only when prescribed by Drs. to patients who are not allergic to this drug class in order to treat specific bacterial infections and stop the growth of bacteria to cure the bacterial infection. On the other hand it is not prescribed when there is no bacterial infections.
Amoxicillin and other antibiotics will not treat a common cold, flu or any other VIRAL infection.
