I been on 50 mg Trazodone for three months now for sleep aid. My sleep is,up and downs means sometimes I sleep better than other nights. Hope it helps
I need to know the side effects and if it can be taken with other medications for diabetes cholesterol
Ok
I know what it is but I have an employee that has been taking it and still cannot sleep..can anyone weigh in as to why this may be the case
if he is on 50mg, he may need to up the dose. 75mg and 100mg do the trick for me. I usually take about 2 hours before I want to sleep. It gets stronger from 1-3 hours after taking. Puts me to sleep like a baby. I actually hit a deep sleep which I have had trouble doing for about 5 years now. I wake up with some inspiration which I thought I would never get back. I am so happy I found this drug.
I'm not sure why it doesn't work for you, but you may want to try Serequel as it helped me sleep for many years. I was taking 3 50mg tablet's before bed and within a half hour I was out cold till morning. I hope this helps you.
I have used Trazodone just 50 mg. for the last 15 years and it helps me sleep which gives me a light headed side effects in the morning but other than that it helps me...
trazadone is a antidepressant/tranquilzer its all in the word but i love it i use it to sleep im 21 on 150 mg ive been on it sence i was 13
I take it for depression and it is a excellent sleepaid. It works well for both with me. Side effects I have noted since taking it are drugged feeling on into the day and now with stiffness in my muscles. Neither have sent me running to get it changed yet. Four months into treatment now. Time will tell. Too much information on a drug can sometimes scare you away, the errection reqiureing surgery and may leave you impotent would have me running for the doctor's office. But I am a female and have rather enjoyed that particular side effect of arrousal after suffering the opposite effect for years on other meds. Good luck.
trazadone is an antidepressant that is also good for sleep..drs like to give it to people who have trouble sleeping
Trazadone is an older antidepressant, but now is mainly prescribed for sleep. Unlike Ambien or Lunesta, insurance company's will pay for all 30. Plus, it's pretty cheap. I used to take it, and FYI it may cause you to feel "hungover" in the morning!
i know you got your answer, but im new to this sight and im just looking for people too chat with.i suffer from major depression, and opiate addiction.but i think im gettin the opiate addiction taken care of doc put me on suboxone..anyway sorry i did not answer your question but it is an antidepressant.if you have anymore questions about pills? i have the answer just hit me up.im kinda a pill expert
I was prescribed this med at 150 mg a night, worked ok at first, then was switched to Limbitrol, which works better for me personally!
One precaution if you go on it... don't stop cold turkey, I did this and it triggered another siezure event for me and I had withdraw syptoms. Not a pleasent experience at all!
I can tell you if you have trouble sleeping this is my number one knocker outer. I am not hooked to them but they do work wonders when you haven't been getting much sleep..
Trazodone is not a sleeping pill and won't work like one. It must build up in your brain over a period of time (minimum 2 / max 6 weeks). It won't make you drowsy on the occasional sleepless night unless you are taking it every day. If it works like that for you, it's only the placebo effect, sorry to disappoint you. If you need it for sleep, then do not stop taking it, it depletes out of your system very rapidly, in only a few days, then you may need another 2 or 3 weeks for it to rebuild to give you the sleep benefit.
I take one 50mg of Trazadone, most nights. I take it an hour before I want to sleep. It worked the very first time I took it. There was no build up time required for me. I say this in response to someone who stated it takes weeks before this works.
I get deep sleep when I take it and am so glad I discovered it. I also suffer from depression but I take Prozac for that issue.
The thing I like most about this drug is that the same milligram dosage works over time, without need to increase the dose to be effective. And, there is no hang-over effect in the morning. Good thing if you need to work and be up early.
I think this drug is very effective and years of research and data prove its safety.
Not so sure about it's use for depression. But it definitely works for insomnia whether you take it once a month; once a week; or every night.
I have been on trazodone for years and it works very well I have developed a great sleep pattern ..
Trazodone is used as an anti-depressent and it is also a sedative. This medication is usually safe just take it as directed by your Doctor. I hope this helps you.
I used Trazodone every night for about 3.5 years, ever since I was diagnosed with depression and the depression therefore caused insomnia. Trazodone has been a life saver for me, I slept like a baby every night and woke up feeling refreshed and ready to start the day. I highly recommend it to those who are having sleep difficulties. I personally did not see any reduction in my depression symptoms while on Trazodone whatsoever, so my doctor gave me Prozac in addition which was great for a while but then pooped out on me. Luckily, I do not require any sleeping medication anymore, but my doctor gave me a prescription and I keep a bottle in my medicine cabinet for certain nights when I am having trouble sleeping.
it should also be mentioned that it is prob the anti-depressant with the highest risk of priapism (prolonged erection lasting more than 4 hours) that usually requires surgery and often leaves the person permanently impotent.
My neurologist nearly ripped my psychologist a new A-hole for suggesting he give me trazodone as a sleep aid. Said the risk is way too high, and he would never even consider prescribing this to a person as young as me... I'm 35 btw.
I'm on trazadone, two pills a night. I'm 16
find another neurologist asap, he's an idiot. My neurologist and psychiatrist together put me on this 29 years ago and it changed my life; Desyrel (generic trazodone) is one of the oldest and safest anti-anxiety / anti-depressants; it is NOT a sleep aid per se, but that is a very pleasant side effect. your doctor's mention of priapism demonstrates his/her lack of investigation and that is worrisome; the incidence of priapism is nearly non-existent, see the package circular; btw every med has side effects. i have been on Desyrel since the age of 29 (i am 58) and it resolved a life-long (since age 5) insomnia problem along with accompanying severe anxiety. I was miserable and constantly drowsy and anxious, this med changed my life and allowed me to complete my education (through PdD) and have a normal life. without it i would have continued to suffer with 2 hours a night of sleep, and constant related health issues.
I have been on this medication for 2 weeks now. I keep thinking that some side effects would show up. Surely a wonder drug this good would have a side effect. No side effects so far. I am sleeping much better. I wake up recharged and ready to go. I can think much more clearly now... In just 2 short weeks my life is already much better.
