I've been on lamotrigine for a year, I've gained weight whilst on it. Does anyone know if the weight comes after stopping?
Does the weight gain come off after stopping lamotrigine?

Hi, Kelli!

Yes, it's not permanent and you will lose it but not overnight. Depending on how much you gained it may take a month or two before it really falls off all the way. If the weight gain is substantial it may take a little longer.
It's a lot like dieting... little by little. Be sure to watch your food intake and keep up with exercising.

I didn't gain very much and I started losing in just over a week or so once the medication was out of my system.
