I started on 30mg about 3 weeks ago. The first week it was a magic pill, it gave me focus, energy and motivation, calmed me down a lot, and allowed me to concentrate. Unfortunately that was short lived, now when I take it, about 4 hours in I get very irritable, and sometimes angry. It still helps me get my tasks completed, which is why I haven’t stopped it, but it’s a very uncomfortable side effect. It also gives me moods swings. From happy to angry to sad all within 15 minutes. I also take Pristiq for anxiety, which it’s still doing it’s job. Next doc visit I will ask him about this.
Hi there. I am on 30 mg for over a week now. I do feel I’m more outspoken but not physically aggressive. If anything I’m in a better mood. No pain in stomach at all. If I take my dose at 6 am I feel real tired and sleep an hour and wake up feeling better. Lost five pounds already! Take care. Toni
My partner is on this, he has been prescribed the maximum he can get. The first week he was fine, but this past week he has been very detached and antisocial. Yesterday, while holding our 11month old. He started yelling at me, when I stood my ground. He raised his hand at me and punched me in my arm. Now... I will note that this isn't like him at all... I could see that he hesitated at first cause I was holding our child. But he still struck me. I don't think it was his full force. But it shaken me...
I am looking to see if this medicine causes anger issues. He was on it in past and never this happened. Now he back on it. It's like a new extreme has occurred.
When I took Vyvanse, I either had horrible angry outbursts or I was crying. I think I cried more in the short time I took Vyvanse than in the prior 20 years. I am not exaggerating. It was HORRIBLE. I felt out of control and I really think I was on the brink of being involuntarily committed by my family.
I've been on Vyvanse for about 5 years now. I already had a short fuse before I started taking it, but this drug cuts that fuse down to the nub; making it hard to concentrate on my coping mechanisms before I blow my top. The thing is, my productivity is so improved with Vyvacne, I don't want to stop taking it; that said, my outbursts are scaring my family. Just this morning, I shattered a wood cabinet door with my knee over an argument about towels. I couldn't even get myself to move over to the punching bag 5 feet from my kitchen counter before I lashed out...
Medicinally, I've reduced my daily dose from 60 to 50, I take 10mg to guanfacine in the morning, and I've reduced my usage of marijuana and alcohol. I'm also thinking of cutting out caffeine and my morning coffee seems to make me more irritable in the morning. Socially, I'm looking for a support group to talk about these issues and learn about other coping strategies. I've got to find a way before I alienate myself from those I love.
Not me personally but my adult sister.
She had her script moved from 30mg to 50mg a few months ago, and we haven’t connected since the holidays. This week I reached out to catch up and learned that she has all but checked out on her family, and is unable to feel any emotion/remorse for her own destructive and dangerous behavior.
When we ask her a question about what she wants to do going forward she is blank. Just a zombie, emotionally. Fighting to get her back by slowly moving her off this med, weekly doctor appointments, family intervention, etc. scary stuff
I took vyvanse for several months and began to have mood swings. I'd go from angry to happy to crying. I got off of it and the mood swings stopped. I got back on it six months later and the mood swings started again. The mood swings are not typical for me, I only have them when taking vyvanse.
I am prescribed Vyvanse and have been taking it for over a year now. it makes me way less agitated than other ADHD medications. BUT - I do know someone who experienced anger outbursts being on it. he needed to quit taking it because it was causing issues in his close relationships.
I would definitely bring it up to your doctor and see if something else will be better fitting.
