Hi, Lldd!
It takes a bit of time for this type of medication to become fully effective but you should see improvements in the first few weeks.
"Sleep, energy, or appetite may show some improvement within the first 1-2 weeks. Improvement in these physical symptoms can be an important early signal that the medication is working. Depressed mood, anxiety, and lack of interest in activities may need up to 6-8 weeks to fully improve.
Vortioxetine (Trintellix) | NAMI: National Alliance on Mental Illness"
Thank you for the quick reply.
I have to say I’m not sure why the psychiatrist prescribed vortioxetine for GAD as the comments on effectiveness seem to be very mixed.
Your doctor must have had a reason for prescribing vortioxetine over the SSRI's and SNRI's based on your symptoms and history although there have been limited clinical studies done to determine it's effectiveness. The studies that have been done do indicate that it's effective for some people.
"Vortioxetine is an approved antidepressant that has also demonstrated positive effects on anxiety symptoms in subjects with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD)."
If you want to continue with it try to do it with a positive attitude because if you don't think it will work then it probably won't. Don't let your anxiety about the medication determine whether or not to give it a fair trial.
I totally agree with WC
Thank you
