Side effects like you describe usually resolve within just a couple of weeks so you might want to let your doctor know that you're still having them. You doubled your dosage rather quickly so your metabolism may not have had time to fully adjust to the drug.
An increase in anxiety is pretty common:
"Very common (10% or more of users): Nervousness (up to 21.3%), anxiety (up to 11.2%)"
"How Long Does It Take For Venlafaxine To Work?
Sleep, energy, or appetite may show some improvement within the first 1-2 weeks. Improvement in these physical symptoms can be an important early signal that the medication is working. Depressed mood, anxiety, and lack of interest in activities may need up to 6-8 weeks to fully improve."
You should be feeling better soon now as it may just be a matter of giving it a little more time but do get a call in to your doctor and get her/his advice.
Increase in anxiety is a common side effect, usually most antidepressants may cause increase in anxiety. Just hang in there, give the medication at least 4-6 weeks to kick in. If your symptoms does not improve. Let your adviser know. Never stop cold turkey. I hope the medication help with your anxiety, stay safe man. Fingers cross.
I titrated off Prozac (which did not work at all for me) and onto venlafaxine 75mg. It worked on me right away. Took away my anxiety within a couple of days.
