I’ve had to reluctantly come off Prozac pretty abruptly because of an allergic reaction, it was doing wonders for me mentally and I felt great, so I really didn’t want to come off it.
I’ve now been asked to start Venlafaxine 75mg once a day, starting on Monday. Does anyone know about weight gain with this medication? I’m worried I balloon, like I did with Mirtazapine, back in 2014.

Mirtazapine:
"Very common (10% or more of users): Increased appetite (up to 17%), weight gain (up to 12%)"
Venlafaxine:
"Common (1% to 10% of users): Decreased appetite, increased appetite, weight gain, weight loss"
Most, if not all, antidepressants have the potential to cause metabolic weight changes but venlafaxine is considered more weight neutral because these changes can go either way... if they happen at all. The percentages are low and the two medications are from different classes of antidepressants.
I took venlafaxine for over 7 years with no weight change at all.
