I had an amount of alcohol which should not made me drunk. And from some point I cannot remember anything. Normally I have alcohol like 5 times per year and it happened to me second time in the last year.
Can venlafaxine 225mg cause blackouts and get you drunk very quickly?

Hi, Damianek! Not a good idea! Alcohol is contraindicated, except VERY moderately, with all psychotropic medications because they can have this very interaction. Besides, 225mg is a very high maximum dose.
"Interactions between your drugs:
ethanol venlafaxine
Applies to: ethanol, venlafaxine
GENERALLY AVOID: Alcohol may potentiate some of the pharmacologic effects of CNS-active agents. Use in combination may result in additive central nervous system depression and/or impairment of judgment, thinking, and psychomotor skills.
MANAGEMENT: Patients receiving CNS-active agents should be warned of this interaction and advised to avoid or limit consumption of alcohol. Ambulatory patients should be counseled to avoid hazardous activities requiring complete mental alertness and motor coordination until they know how these agents affect them, and to notify their physician if they experience excessive or prolonged CNS effects that interfere with their normal activities."
