Yes. Much easier for a Psychiatrist to prescribe, no matter what state you reside. If you want both, good luck getting either one, let alone both if you are also prescribed opioids.
Hello mboemasta. Yes you can. The interactions will effect you though. Cognitive/CNS/Motor/ functions will be effected when taking both drugs. Regards pledge
Absolutely, per Md recs. I also use Valium as a muscle relaxer. My pain doc says its the best there is and then I use Xanax for my anxiety. Sometimes paths may cross and I get sleepy. But, other than that, I've been on both for years. Hope that helps!!!
I take both and have back spasms. How are you directed to take yours for a muscle relaxant & anxiety? Daily doses & when to take. Thank you for your help
Yes, if the same Dr prescribed them both and instructed you to take both and you take as directed. From what I know though, you risk respiratory arrest in your sleep from mixing these. Hope this helps.

Grapefruit juice may increase the blood levels and effects of diazepam. You may want to limit your consumption of grapefruit and grapefruit juice during treatment with diazepam. However, if you have been regularly consuming grapefruit or grapefruit juice with diazepam, do not alter the amounts of these products in your diet without first talking to your doctor or other health care professional. Contact your doctor if your condition changes or you experience increased side effects. Orange juice is not expected to interact.

alprazolam ↔ food
Applies to: Xanax (alprazolam)
Grapefruit and grapefruit juice may interact with ALPRAZolam and lead to potentially dangerous side effects. Discuss the use of grapefruit products with your doctor. Do not increase or decrease the amount of grapefruit products in your diet without first talking to your doctor. Do not drink alcohol while taking ALPRAZolam. This medication can increase the effects of alcohol. You may feel more drowsy, dizzy, or tired if you take ALPRAZolam with alcohol.

I have aslo taken both benzodiazepines, as long as they were prescribed by my Dr.
i can only answer from my own experience,,, i have taken both,,my doctor gave me valium for muscle spasams,,, an xanax for my nerves,,it worked for me,,for a while,,but after awhile u get immune,,an need switching,,from time tooo time,,, GOOD LUCK
I also take valium for chronic muscle spasms. I've had them in my back for over 10 years and now I have fibromyalgia which adds do it.. My husband has ALS so there are certain days where I am very down and upset. I take the Xanax occasionally. I usually break it in half and take .25mg. It really helps. The Valium really doesn't do anything as far as my anxiety is concerned that I've been on it for so long. If I only take this two to three times a week is that a problem? I was also a nurse for almost 40 years and I hate taking this medicine. I do go to support group meetings and have a lot of people to talk to. There are just some days where this is the only thing that helps.
