I have been taking Xanax for 31 years. I was started at 4 mg's a day & now I'm up to 6 mg's a day. I was on Valium for 10 years before that & they switched me over to Xanax telling me it would work better for me. I am wanting to get off of the drug without very serious withdrawals & I need to know if I can substitute Valium for the Xanax safely ? If not, what else can be tried ?

I'm a nurse and disagreed at first but now on week 2, I'm doing much better. It's very dangerous to get off of Xanax after many years of use...
