I was on Macrobid for one day then she switched me over to Cipro because the pain I’m having is terrible. It is not just burning but I feel like the pain is in my cervix, almost like a contraction. I’m 56, and haven’t had a period in 10 yrs. is this pain normal? I’m doubled over when I pee and yelling out loud. I have had a UTI before but never like this. I can’t sleep at night because of the pain. I’ve also been on phenazopyridine 200, and it doesn’t help.
Urinary Tract Infection - I got a UTI and waited about 5 days until I went to the doctors.

Urinary Tract infections can sometime cause very painful urination. And it usually takes the antibiotic a few days before you feel any relief. It is also advised to increase your water intake when taking antibiotics to be able to flush out the infection and to also speed up recovery. However, if it's really unbearable, I suggest that you go back to your doctor for a follow up. He might suggest you to have an ultrasound of your pelvic area to check if there are kidney stone or urinary crystals that are partially blocking the flow of urine which may be the cause of your severe pain when urination. Based on your result, your doctor might then adjust your medication and suggest other procedures needed to relieve the pain.
