Will I be able to use just Trulicity eventually and use no daily insulin?

Good morning!

That question really depends on your individual situation and what your doctors feel is most appropriate, however, my spouse has been on very high (25 units + sliding scale at meals; 125 BID long acting) insulin doses for about 10 years. 6 months on this and Januvia has resulted in a 40lb weight loss (the insulin ballooned him to over 450lbs, his previous doc just kept raising the dose no matter what the issue was); an A1C of 6.8, AND a reduction to only 50 BID on the long acting insulin and 15 + sliding scale at meals. He's even seen an improvement in his hypertension such that one medication is being reduced due to his first ever low reading at an MD visit (he has confirmed white coat syndrome). Assuming your body makes enough natural insulin and the Trulicity works for you, it is VERY possible to lower your insulin dose, and hopefully, stop entirely. Just work with your care team closely.
