Can I mix Trazodone and Melatonin together? I'm taking 50mg of Trazdone right now.
I have been taking Trazdone and unisom, but I can't take it every night.
Also, will melatonin eventually stop working?
Thank you!

Oh also should I be concerned about serotonin syndrome?

My2kin04; Don't feel bad about asking so many questions it is your nervousness and I understand just wanted to say lets wait on the Remeron, Stick with the Melatonin timed release it took it to work for me about 3 to 5 days but taking it with the trazodone it may work a bit better let me know please Chuck1957 YOUR NOT A BOTHER don't feel bad. It's all good my friend.
Thank you so much
Well I got some bad news today from my doctor. Called her and explained to her that the 50 mg did nothing and I gave it three days I upped it last night to 75 and it did a little better. I don't know if you remember or not but she put me on 75 sometime ago when I took it once and it didn't seem to do much. She said to only go up to 50 and that was it I need to come in and talk. So that makes no sense. Also she told me that I cannot take anything with it, I told her that 50 is the equivalent of taking a shot of water so basically I'm going to get no sleep at all for the next few nights because there's no appointments available of course!!
Also, do you think it would be rude of me to mention to her that I had asked four professionals ( including you) that it was perfectly safe to mix with the Otc items I had mentioned with it. I don't want to make her mad and make her feel I don't trust her. But , it is ok even though she said no. I'm not sure why she feels this way? Perhaps additiction?
No I don't think I would say anything right now wait and see how these things work. then go from there later don't want to insult her.
That is crazy because I do remember her uping you to 75 then decreasing it to 50mg etc so she has no reason to get upset if she keeps this up it might be time to find another doctor CHUCK1957
I think you're right! it also may be the case because we were over the phone and she said where already update once over the phone I'd have to come in so maybe that's it ? She told me when I first took the trazodone that sometimes a higher dose of 100 is used in most people do well with that in fact that's the general does when it starts working. Hopefully when I get in when I do I can get up higher and see if it works.
my2k; No on Remeron it can take much longer to get off of if your having trouble with Trazodone you don't even want to try remeron.
my2kin04; I ran these through the drug Interaction prior to me answering you and there were none. Not all Pharmacist really listen when they are busy but with what little Trazodone you are taking and the Unisom and Melatonin alternating there is no way you would even have to worry about a serotonin reaction. But it's always good to double check.
Thank you very much..sorry for so many questions and responses.
I've been reading online about Remeron people seem to have good luck where trazodone failed them. Is this medication hard to get off if I started it and found it didn't work.
My2kin04; Nope just get the standard capsule and don't take more than one with the Trazodone to start this works pretty good. Then for backup, you have the Trazodone and Unisom But never take all 3 together or you well not even know what is working. This is enough combinations, for now, you should not need more than this for now. If you get too many ideas it's to easy to screw up in the fog of the night and take to much of something we still have to be very careful.Good luck but safety before more combinations. When you worry to much about not sleeping to night you wind yourself up too much and really nothing would work. Do some slow deep breathing in and out as you lay there trying to fall asleep.
Thank you! One pharmacist said yes and another said no( do to serotonin ) but the fist one said they work differently and it is fine as you also said . I had already asked before you responded . It's nice to have other opions too!
I purchased the time release melatonin so hopefully it will last a little longer than regular melatonin
Yeah, that is fine that way when you do wake up it may continue to kick in and help you get back to sleep and it just releases a small amount at a time over the period of the night.Let me know in 2 or 3 days how it is doing for you.
Before you answered back earlier , I had checked in with a couple pharmacist, two looked it up on their computer and said there was no know interaction , one said not to take the two together , but didn't look it up either, so I am going with what you and the other two said.
The one that said no said something about serotonin syndrome , others said no bc it works differently
my2kin04; No worries about Serotonin syndrome with these and this is fine to mix, Hard to say if the Melatonin well stop working but it is something you can take daily without any problem so I really would not even worry about it.
Good news, I'm going to try it to night if I have issues. Do you recommend a starting dose with the melatonin?
Oh any other combos you'd recommend ?
