Jammark gave you good advice regarding not splitting, cutting, crushing, chewing ER (extended release) pills, the reason being is that too much of the medication will be released at once causing more undesired possible side effects too fast and losing time technology, which is the purpose of taking ER, XR, XL (all extended release abbreviations), having an even amount of the medication for a determined period of time in your bloodstream causing the desired effect on the condition you are being treated for.
I take Tramadol 50 mg tablets immediate release. My tablets are not scored, yet I can split them, and my doctor has advised me to split them when necessary. I do not recommend splitting extended release tablets.
