My doge had knee surgery to repair torn ACL and was prescribed tramadol 50 mg every 8-12 hr, when I asked if this dose is not too high for 20 lb dog he said that it isn’t. What do you think? Thanks
Is tramadol 50 mg every 8-12 hr is appropriate for 20 lb dog for post surgical pain?

Answers
The standard is for dogs 2mg per LB. I have 2 15 LB dogs and have given both a 50mg of tramadol every 6 hours a day and no side effects or problems at all.
