I have been on topamax for migraine prevent and wow the difference is amazing!!! I started off at 25mg then bumped it up to 50mg. I don't get the tingling or anything, but i did notice that soda taste weird so now I will not drink it (which is probably a good thing in the end) and I have been nauseated since valentines day and I started the topamax on the 10th or 11th, i only got physically sick once but I have to make myself eat. Unfortunately, I have not lost weight like I wanted (i'm 20lbs overweight) but I am not gaining weight either. Has anyone else experienced this>

Hi
I have been taking Topamax for about 4 weeks, the first 2 weeks @ 25mg am & pm & then up to 50 mg am & pm. The first 2 weeks I had just a bit of tingling in my toes and fingers, along with slight confusion, completely bearable, especially as my migraines and headaches seamed to be improving so much. I was also spurred on by the encouraging reviews for Topamax from long suffering migraine sufferers. However in the last 10 days I have been experiencing increasingly debilitating nausea and diarrhoea. Like you I have found it hard to find much online regarding these side effects however, they do very much exist. Look at the leaflet in your drug box they are stated as possible VERY COMMOM SIDE EFFECTS, ie: in the list of most likely! I'm planning to give myself another week before I go back to my GP, the main thing being keeping hydrated. But from what I have gaged from the online reviews for Topamax is keep with it as the first few weeks/months should outweigh the benefits of the migraine relief... that's my plan anyway... good luck
I did not when I was on it, which means little because that's me. However, if you look over the attached you'll see despite the length and variety of things listed, nausea is not one of them. I would urge you to contact your Dr asap about this matter.
thank you, i called my neurologist and her nurse said nausea was a symotom of it, but on here it says its not, so im a bit confused, i don't want to go off just yest because i haven't even been on it for a month but my blood pressure went back to normal which for me is around 110-118 and i had not had an ounce of pain since i started it, i asked about lowering my dose to see what that does or taking one pill in the am and the other at night but i had yet to get a call back..grrr..thank you for your help and insight!!! :)
Well, the pros outweigh the cons, maybe change when you take it, if you're taking it with food, try without. Switch some things up but I would not change the dose, that in itself can cause other complications. Thanks for the response, keep me posted.
