Hi Poppy52. I've been taking Zopiclone for over 10 years. I do have a noise in my ears; but it's more like a roaring and I can hear my heart pounding in my ears too. I'm not sure if it's tinnitus; but it bothers me the most at night when I'm trying to go to sleep. I have a fan running and it drowns out the sound. It really does help. I've heard that it should go away after off Zopiclone for a couple weeks. I will be tapering off it when I'm done tapering off a different medication. I will be tapering at 10% every 10-14 days... maybe slower; maybe faster. It will depend on how my body is handling it. Take care and best wishes. Cindy59
Hi Cindy
May I ask you what happened to this noise as you came off the Zopiclone?
I have a sound like whooshing in my right ear similar to the rhythm of my heart beat. My ears also feel blocked and under pressure although they are not clogged with wax. From other descriptions on the internet is sounds like Pulsatile tinnitus, although I've had no diagnosis.
I have chronic fatigue and have been taking Zopiclone for the last 6 weeks whilst I do some full time voluntary work - to ensure I get enough sleep. I wondered if the ear issue is connected to Zopiclone at all? I have had the ear issue about 4 weeks now and it seems to be getting worse.
Best Wishes
Ed
Hi Ed. I haven’t started tapering off Zopiclone yet. I’m still tapering off Cymbalta and when I’m done that I will be starting the Zopiclone. I have done a lot of research on Tinnitus and different medications. Some people have it while they are on these medications and some people have it when they are tapering. I have found that for everyone the Tinnitus has stopped when they have gone off the medications. Unless of course it’s from something different. I did some research on the type of Tinnitus that you mentioned and it sounds like what I have. I am going to talk to my doctor about it the next time I see him. There is so much information on Tinnitus that it sure can be confusing. I wish you the best and take care
Hi Cindy
Thanks for answering.
I discovered a facebook group on this pulsatile tinnitus - seems it's not really a form of tinnitus but actually hearing what's happening inside the body.
I saw a nurse practitioner today who says I have an ear infection in the right ear. She gave me some antibiotic spray and told me to return if i still have the same symptom in a week. I've had the symptoms several weeks until now- the sound plus a certain amount of hearing loss - I also drown it out with the sound of a snow storm/ wind on youtube!
All the best to you. Ed
Thank you for the information Ed. What you are saying makes sense to me. I will talk to my doctor about it at my next appointment. I have two fans in my bedroom that help to drown out the noise and they keep me cool (bonus). I would love to hear how you make out at your doctors appointment; if you don't mind. It always seems to help to know that you're not going through something alone; eh? Hopefully we will get the answer to our question and be on our road to recovery soon. Take care.
Cindy
