Metformin is a drug commonly used to treat Type 2 diabetes. It is given to lower blood sugar. It may take several weeks to 2 to 3 months to get your blood sugar readings where they should be. Please be patient. Make sure you follow your doctors instructions and take Metformin as directed. Be sure to watch your diet and adopt some form of regular exercise.
Unfortunately you will probably need to take Metformin (or other diabetes medication) for the rest of your life.
