Why does bupropion and paroxetine say severe interaction. I've been on these two for years and when I saw the severe interaction I was alarmed. When I told my doctor, she said she looked it up and it is not severe. I want to go off one of them and wonder which one would be better to wean off.
Taking bupropion and paroxetine?

Hi, Cutri!
I wouldn't stop either one of your medications if they are working for you on the very slim chance of contracting serotonin syndrome. Combinations of antidepressant/anxiolytics from different classes are frequently prescribed together.
I've attached a link for you regarding serotonin syndrome and I think you'll see that it's very rare and easily treatable in the early stages. Plus if you were going to experience an interaction I would think it would have already happened after two years.
You're wise to be cautious and I hope the information in the link will help you and your doctor make the decision that is most to your benefit.

Personally, I've taken bupropion for years with a variety of different antidepressants and have never had a problem.
