... loss? I believe it is the amlodipine besylate. Can I stop it without weaning off?
Can taking amlodipine 5mg and losartan 50mg cause swelling of ankles and feet, weight gain and hair?

First side effect of amlidopine is ankle swelling. My ankles and feet swelled on it and went down to normal when the doctor took me off. He just switched my med and never weaned me off. I just started Losartan (on metoprolol) and had such a headache and weird taste in my mouth am asking my doctor this week to change it.
Losartan (and Lisinopril) caused severe hair loss for me. I switched to Amlodipine and all my hair grew back.
As for swelling of the feet and ankles, that's a known side effect of Amlodipine. It happened to me on several occasions, but then I read that regular aerobic exercise will prevent it. I got more serious with my fitness and it never happened again.
Talk to your doctor and have him or her switch you to something else. Don't just stop taking your meds. :) Hope this helps!

Whew!!! Ok just found this site this morning, my daughter told me to research side effects of all of my meds to see if any of them had a side effect of hair loss I’ve been on Lisinopril for about 15 years however after having a partial hysterectomy I noticed a lot of changes in my hair and all of a sudden I begin to have clumps of hair loss it comes out and it grows back I expect some hair thinning maybe because of my age but for you to mention that lisinopril could definitely be a part of this Will cause me to do more research
So recently my doctor put me on Amlodipine Besylate the first week that I took it it cost so much swelling in my feet and ankles that I stopped taking it and went back to my HCTZ but I have to get off of the HCTZ in order to see if it’s causing my calcium levels to go up so now I have Lasix along with the lisinopril to take I have not tried it as a combination yet
My hair loss was pretty dramatic after starting Lisinopril, so I knew what was causing it. Good luck to you!
Yes, my right ankle is the one mostly affected by swelling. However, I discovered more exercise, not necessarily aerobic, but anything that gets your lymphatic system flowing is a very helpful deterrent. Lymphatic massage also helps but I can't get myself on a regular routine for that. Working up a sweat doing some activity you can do will help. I haven't tried sitting in a sauna yet, but that might also help.
