... am eating a very clean diet plant-based. I’m hoping the combination of those two may have calm down my immune system. I’ve cut my methotrexate in half five days ago, I thought I would continue on this route for a few weeks to see if the pain comes back or if not. Is there any problem with doing that? I figure if the pain comes back, I’d go back to my old dose. I figured that’s the only way I can tell if what I’m doing is working. Any significant issues out there?

Have you spoken to your doctor about this? I would definitely ask and not change anything unless your doctor approves. I’m on the medication and it took awhile to “ kick in” so only your doctor can should advise you, I wouldn’t mess with it.

No Dr consult. I’ve been gradually reducing my meds with no flares. By next week I will be off completely. I am eating an anti-inflammatory Whole Foods plant-based diet. All three doctors I have met with said that I will be on these medication‘s for the rest of my life. I don’t think that’s gonna be the case. Until you go off the meds, how do you know that you really need the meds?

From my own experience I learned how much the meds WERE helping because my pain came back ten times worse. My doctor ordered X-rays & tests and by that time most of my bad joints had gotten much worse & found out I will be needing joint replacements. I felt so much better taking the meds and I hate taking them but have no choice. I also completely changed to a total anti-inflammatory diet. It helps, but for me I still need to take my medication regularly. Everyone is different, I hope you find what works the best for you.
