I am 68 years old and have been on losartan, 25 mg over 10 years.
I tolerate the drug well.
However I note increased more thinning of my hair top and sides during the past year.
It may be genetic (alopecea) but I am wondering if it is also due to the losartan.
Hesitant to change medications.
Blood pressure is stable with losartan.
Taking 25 mg losartan for 10 years and hair is thinning more during past year?

With this timing, it would be rather unusual for losartan to be implicated. Hair shedding and loss caused by most drugs happenda within 2-5 months. Please see a dermatologist for evalution. Another cause is much more likely.
I have been taking Losartan 50 mg BID for 2 months. My BP had spiked to 230/100 from a cortisone injection into my hip for arthritis and bone spurs. At first I blamed the cortisone injection. It has been 4 months now and my hair loss is getting bad and with scalp pain. I'm also on 50 mg Lopressor BID which I've been on for about 10 yrs. now. Can this combination be the cause? I was on Lisinopril and Lopressor before with no problems. Thank you in advance for your respons.e
